Looks fairly low optioned with radio delete and manual brakes (and probably steering) but its black with chrome grill trim, eyebrows and red interior

odd combo! Generally its a fairly fancy truck that are in those colors

Bound to be something it will need that doesn't come with the truck. Having said that, if one doesn't mind a little assembly, and some inevitable parts hunting, I think $2800 for a red 68 K10 is pretty fair - and it looks like most of the parts are there, they will just be delivered in the bed probably...

Yes the Red (or orange one) seems like a great deal!!
They are only original once...

Wouldn't this truck have the black tags if still in original owners name ?

Not necessarily. If one plate gets stolen or falls off on the road somewhere you have to get two new plates issued and they will be the color scheme in use at the time.

As for that truck, I would ignore the claim unless he could provide all the records going back to new. I got such records with my truck.

Also, if the owner moved to California sometime after the purchase, it would have a plate of the style being issued at that time.

Not if it hasn't lived in California its whole life... I wouldn't take stock in the miles unless there is good documentation though.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

My truck is an original California one. It had black and yellow plates when I met my wife to be, but my FiL didn't want to drop the money on commercial plates any more, so now it has blue and yellow plates. It is registered as a "house car". That's another way.

Also, when some dolt ran into my son's '70 Dart and totaled it, we bought the salvage and fixed it. When a salvage title is taken on a vehicle, new plates must be issued. Seems stupid, but that is what happened.

Sooo I have always wondered,,, On this particular drive train there is a 3 speed manual coupled to a transfer case. Could one not pull the 3 speed and install a four speed such as a Muncie car type trans? Isn't the three speed a Muncie?
Sorry...I see the four speed stick in the pics now. PSYCHE!

Another scenario is it could have been issued personalized plates at some point and the owner got tired of the extra license fee and reverted back to regular plates.

FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD!!! Will one of you please buy this truck! I check on it 2-3 times a day thinking someone has finally removed the source of my temptation. He is only asking $2800. and a lot of the expensive work is already done! Have prices for these started to fall or am I just smitten with 67-72 c10/k10 goodness? Does this mean it must be meant for me?

I've been tempted, it's only about two hours away from me, but I don't really need another project and I have my eye on another classic truck in really nice shape. If that falls through I may check this out.
