I've made a lot progress since the last post,, but I've also been really busy in general. Not enough of me to go around sometimes. I'll post some pics and give an update here pretty soon. :chevy: |
Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
Sorry I haven't started a build thread. Maybe I should.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
How did you know what height to set the cab at? Are you worried the bed won't set low enough to match the cab or are you planning on cutting the bed floor out and moving it up? Sorry for all the questions. You've made great progress so far.

Okay,,, as promised,, some new progress and pics. More coming soon!
. I spent a lot of time during the fall and winter finishing the connection between the cab and firewall,,, below the windshield. I must say,, it came out great! (a LOT of work though!!) :chevy: . http://imageshack.com/a/img921/6012/Ju3f4p.jpg |
Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
Here's a look from the front. I'm starting to apply the seam sealer.
. http://imageshack.com/a/img923/9910/vedYnH.jpg . The wiper motor has been re-located to the area where the seam sealer is. |
Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
I also decided against re-using the original doors and fenders,,, just too much rust. I've already bought new fender doors and bed panels.

Lookin' good Wade!

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
im glad your making progress. I did same thing on the doors and fenders. It was more cost effective to buy new then spend hours and hours putting patch panels in the old ones.

Also here is the build thread for my build.

Nice to see you posting again. The work is looking great. Are you going to try to get it in paint this year?

Thanks Bill,,it feels good to see some more progress. . Quote:
Hey Dan,,, it's been a while my friend! I'm pretty happy with how it's all turning out. . Quote:
Yeah,, after using 80 pounds of nickel blasting media on the inside of one fender,, I decided it might be better to just go with new. Even after the rust repair in the lower corners and the media blast,, I could still see where the rust in the seams would probably start to grow and be a problem later on. The media blast also left the panel a little thin in places. Your build is looking pretty good!!:metal: . Quote:
Thanks Ryan!! Sorry I haven't been keeping up with all of your mad exploits,,, I'll check out what you've been up to pretty soon. :chevy::gmc2: |
Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
So I've been working on getting my seats in so I have an idea on how big to make my center console. The Yukon floor turns out to be very flimsy and thin feeling. To solve this problem,, GM installed some removable cross braces,, which are also kinda flimsy and awkward to build a center console off from.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
So I built my own cross braces out of eighth inch flat bar.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
I made them non removable (welded directly to the floor). And then started work on my seat bases.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
Just read your build. Wow good to see your still plugging away on your truck after everything you went through a few years ago, a lot of people have to sell or loose interest in there project after all that. Interesting idea using more than just the chassis. :metal:

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)
Which seats are you using? Will they have any slide or adustment? thanks

Looking good Wade! Glad to see you back at it.
