Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
Soooooo, as I have mentioned in previous posts, Mr. Magoo could care less. But after seeing this in the driveway.
https://i.imgur.com/AAp50Thb.jpg Not to mention hearing that the paintman was looking for another project. He proceeded to show his displeasure with his master. Please no don't do it, don't do it! You swore you would never build another truck! Don't go, Don't go! https://i.imgur.com/PMtKG7Ib.jpg |
Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
What could the Paintman possibly be up to..................................:uhmk:

After I tightened it up for the second time I removed the knuckle and the set screw and found that the screw was tight BUT it was not threaded all the way to the bottom and would not tighten on the column shaft. I don't know if you have had any trouble or maybe my stuff from Scotts was a "bad" part. but it may be worth checking before it comes lose |
Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
Well i guess i'm going to have to find another forum. It's amazing what you can find in an old textile mill up in Connecticut......................
https://i.imgur.com/WDfwGde.jpg home safe and sound................. https://i.imgur.com/4tb4xvH.jpg Super solid truck, about the best I have ever seen. only 2 small rust throughs on the lower corner of the doors. Great patina! i think just a coat of clear on this one will suffice! https://i.imgur.com/7WZJ1vh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/hPK1iKg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1iuGLDA.jpg |
Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
what lies did you tell uhaul to get them to rent you that trailer?:lol: they laughed me out when I told them I was picking up a 46 chevy.
if you just keep updating on the dodge in this thread, I doubt if anyone would even throw a flag. traffic is traffic. I like the old dodges too! |
Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
Actually when I went to rent the trailer they asked what kind of truck so they could determine what size trailer I needed. I told them 46 dodge and it came right up on their computer. They said they have every vehicles dimensions from 1912 and up. never said anything about not letting me rent the trailer.

Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
lucky! they told me I couldnt haul a "full size truck" on the trailer, I tried explaining but it was no use. I bought a trailer instead haha

Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
I have enjoyed dropping in and following what you have done. I hope that you document the new truck in Alternate Tinkerings so I can follow that too.

Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
this old man's junk yard I keep raving about has far more Dodge stuff than anything for our Chevy's. If you really need to find something he's about an hour away from me, I'd be happy to work in a trip up there
absolutely awesome find! what plans do you have for it? https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4357/...ed01b807_c.jpg |

[QUOTE=gokellurself;8041963 what plans do you have for it?
For now I just want to get the body apart so I can get it up in the barn for storage. Also build a crib for the cab and get it, into the garage. Then I can take a closer look at the frame and see which way to go. I am kicking around the idea of boxing the original frame and using a Scott's front end and four bar link in the back. Or try and find a Dakota frame and make that swap. Either way I would use either a 318 or 360 to keep it all Mopar. My last choice would be the belly button S10 /SBC swap. As with my 292 build, you can see I'm the kind of guy who likes to paddle up stream. Whatever road I choose.......This is my inspiration..................... Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
Have you been able to get any driving time in the old Chevy? What wheel/tire choice did you come up with? So close to the finish line! Next project looks good.

Re: 46 pickemup in NJ "the Rebuild"
what thickness did you use for your plate on floorpan where column and brake pedal are at. and also for your brake assemebly that you mounted to the frame what thickness did you use. it almost looks like 3/16 for frame and 1/8 for floor pan??
