I get a kick out of these base trim trucks with deep SPIDs.

Another from a CL ad in Albuquerque. CST model without gauges, unusual.

Larry that looks to be an early 72 - double wall top with speaker mounted under the heater control?

Elaborate please. I am not familiar with the speaker under the heater control situation.

Do you know the reason the top is listed twice.

Thanks

The build sequence number on the VIN is low (just over one thousand) if I’m reading it correctly. Not sure how many units that line was producing daily but I imagine your Flint Blazer was assembled in one of the early weeks of 72 model year production. As such, I suspect it was assembled before Flint began installing single wall tops and it probably has a double wall top. Correct?

Double wall K5s and some early single wall examples didn’t have the speaker where pickups do (later single walls did). These trucks had a speaker bolted to the undersurface of the dash. Here’s an example pic.

It’s a really interesting SPID that makes me wonder if it was a fleet government order as the GVW is called out. No idea why the top has two rpo’s listed. Other items of note include the spare tire cover (included w CST so why list?), four tire rpo’s, and lack of paint description.

Re: Blazer SPID thread?

Thanks, I didn't know that about the speakers. I don't remember if it is single or double for sure.

That Blazer sat in a carport just north of town for as long as I can remember. A paraplegic guy owned it. I don't know if he was the original owner. When he passed his son took it to Texas, and a friend of ours bought it and brought it back. We were finally able to buy it a few years ago and put it in storage for a future project. Scot says he may just clean it up and drive it, instead of a restoration.

That’s a good score and a great story to boot. Scot should polish it up and drive it up here :) That’s perhaps my favorite color - light yellow.

Ha, he's got to finish that pool and Suburban first.

I have spent little time looking at that Blazer, but that story started me wondering about handicap controls. I need to look at it sometime and figure out how he drove it.

For interests sake, my SPID has the top listed twice as well. See post # 367 on this thread for reference. Opposite side of the spectrum on productions years (69 vs 72) so it was likely not that uncommon. My personal belief is that one line item was for the removable top, and the other for the colour of the top (black vs white). That is complete speculation though.

Some blazer VIN#s start with "C" and some with "K"
Thoughts?

2 wheel drive (C) versus 4 wheel drive (K).
