I would rather try and get the FI up and running if I had the chance.
You do know the intake from the 289 won't fit do you?
Also, that engine has the reverse flow cooling system. Should not be an issue but, you might want to get familiar with that engine's minor details.
That is a great replacement for the 289 if you ask me.;)

It was between this or a TBI 350, so yea its a good fine.
The problem is, I have not been able to use my truck since Oct of last year and I need it for the house projects im trying to finish so I can tear it down and do it right. I have neither the time nor the extra money to get the wire harness for this conversion to work correctly. Im into my truck now almost 600.00 on parts, extras, shop time all because of 4 lose bolts. It was almost sold.

Duarte/Irwindale
Ive got two trucks
67 C20 long bed fleetside and a 68 C20 long bed stepside
Im currently completely taking apart the 68 so that I can shorten the frame and convert it to a 5 lug then im going to order a slew of Porterbuilt products.
I have most of the parts off the 68 that will be for sale...hood/grill in great shape..fenders not so good..some good parts others kinda blah

Your at the right place for advice. That 68 frontend should sell very fast.
Welcome to the board and the SoCal members page.

I hope to fire it up by Wednesday. I broke the Auto Detent cable or throtle cable when I dropped the engine in. Looking for the right one, not the universal fit.

JOHNORO
I saw the post, I was curious if some of our other members here were going.
If not in my truck, then my car. Rather the truck.

I hear you. Im trying to drive Bondo Louie, but im missing a few things.
The clamp that holds the pedal rod to the accelerator rod. A breather cap that will fit a later style valve cover. Cottor pin and spring for the gear shift linkage. Other than that everything else is wired up, add water then go.
Something tells me I will finish on Sunday Morning. LOL
