Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Thanks man..
We have the truck almost ready to start / running now. I'll post more pics asap. I am probably going to start aligning my front sheet metal in the next couple weeks. oldblue1968 - I am not sure which events really. I don't have a list of what's coming up around our area soon. I know I will be at Charlotte but if you have any other information will you please send it my way? |

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
No Neck is my dad ..
He made them for me. shoot him a pm and he will make up a set if you're interested. They're really pretty neat. :metal: Innovative idea no doubt. |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
One more thing .. my dad might even work out something with you on the steelies if you want some centers. The wheels would be for his 68 (6 lug) .. so it's up to him of course but he is the one looking for the wheels. I was just trying to help him find some. I would have bought the ones you had the other day.. but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
nice looking build, I am also planning Big Block project, I got a chance at a sweet deal on a 8.1 out of a newer avalanche the only draw back is lack of performance products for that motor. any way nuff about my ride. Keep up the good work.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Nice clean looking work. I am working(atleast in the near future) on a similar project. 68 stepside with a 396. I am going with a more factory look but I am going to watch this build so I learn from your mistakes, lol. Hope you dont make any. Looking Good!

We had really nice weather this weekend and finally got a chance to work on my truck. Here are some recent pics. We, my dad and my buddy Greg (No Neck, baknblack) got some things wrapped up. The intake is bolted on, distributor at TDC and lined up perfectly, plug wires cut to fit, and a hefty dose of cam lube / Royal Purple break in oil.
We're gettin close ! The Magnaflow Exhaust and restored GM core support are going on hopefully in a few days. |

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Do you guys think I should change out the red dist cap for a black one? I'm about 60% leaning toward a black one. The red one just looks a bit out of place. (??)

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
That big block looks awesome bro. So great to see such clean assembly. If mine comes out HALF that good I'll be happy. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Cool build so far - subscribed. And yes, go with the black dizzy cap...
unless you really like the red one :uhmk: |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
I would go with Black. Your firewall is black and it would blend in (hide it) nicely.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Thanks for all the comments. I appreciate it guys.
I'm actually thinking about selling the rallys and going with Intros or Coys. I don't have them listed or anything yet but if you guys are interested I'd do $750/obo on the set, and if you're relatively close I'll meet you to pick them up. The tires are 255/70 and 235/70 BFGs. Brand new ($450 in tires alone) The wheels have been cleaned up and painted with correct rally wheel paint, new rings and the custom centers. I don't want to split them up. They might end up on my dad's 68 if we do a 5 lug conv. Anyone? If I don't have any interest I may list them in the parts section in the next couple days. There's nothing wrong with them, just changed my mind I guess. |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
I'm a little confused,(which is pretty common for me) is this the blue stepper you
got on the wiw page ? |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
I have two actually. This one is a 69/68 clip. The blue one belongs to my pop. (NoNeck on the forums)

Coming along !! .. I mounted by Lokar transmission dipstick and B&M aluminum transmission pan last Saturday, I will probably hang my X pipe now and Magnaflows / pipes tomorrow. I sold my rally wheels, going to change to either Coys C5s or Eagle 225s, haven't decided yet. Going with 20s.
Next I have a complete ECE 6" drop for the rear with shocks, trackbar, relocation mounts, etc. My front springs have one round cut but I would still like to go with 2" spindle (at least) Check out the air cleaner lid. My intentions were to mute it out, be different and match my valve covers. I bought some paint from Summit and my dad worked on it a bit. It is very close to the same texture as the GMPP silver and I am very happy how it turned out. |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Oh, the scratches on the firewall were from my engine hoist when I sat the motor in. I will fix that once I pull the cab back off for paint.
