Sorry for not posting any updates in a long time. Between school and health problems it is kinda hard for me to work on my truck. I painted part of the front frame rails with Chassis Saver's semi-gloss black but it came out too shiny. I took a few pictures of the frame rails when they were painted but I can't find them now. My dad and I scuffed up the frame rails for a re-paint. We are going to paint it with Chassis Saver's antique satin black. I hope it doesn't come out too shiny this time. My neighbor help us weld the cracks in the frame and I have a picture of the final product of that. I will also post a picture of what everything looks like now and I will get some pictures of it once we get the frame rails painted.

My dad and I got the frame rails painted a few days ago. I'am happy with the shine of the paint but it left brush strokes. We will have to sand the paint a little bit and then top coat it and hope the brush marks go away. I thought it was pretty neat that a bolt got molded into my heater box cover at the factory so I will include a picture of that.

Just a little update. We got the frame rails top coated about a month ago. We also got a few other parts painted. We are rebuilding the power steering pump and cleaning up the heater box and core. I will post some pics of the frame and my cat(he guards my truck and my Dad's Camaro). Once we get some of the other parts assembled I will put pics of those up.

We purchased a radiator core support bushing kit and thought my truck had the 67 and 68 bushings but now we realize it has part of the 69-72 bushings. Will the 67 and 68 bushings work with a 70 core support?

I ordered a chrome dome light from Brothers Truck Parts and just wanted to post a buyer beware. I could of lived with the dull chrome but it looks like a little kid took a sharp object and scratched it down one side of it. We called Brothers and the lady on the phone said that 99% of the ones that they have look like this. I know it wasn't very expensive but if I would have known they all looked like this I wouldn't of wasted my money on it.

We got the power steering pump assembled and ready to go in. We also got the motor ready to put in. I still have some more parts to paint and assemble. I am in the process of touching up the paint on the motor. There is still quite a bit of stuff that has to be done before I can drive it again. The cab swap is going to be on hold for awhile. The weather hasn't been very good up here. One day its nice and sunny out then the next its a blizzard.

We got the intake, timing cover, water pump, fuel pump, and power steering bracket bolted on to the motor. I painted the shocks and put them on also. I also painted the fan, heater motor housing, and a bracket.

We are planning on doing the cab swap. We got the bed liner out and removed the bed. We started cleaning up the back of the frame today and we found out both of the rear cross members need to be replaced and there is some rust issues we need to take care of. We still need to get the cab off and clean the transmission, transfer case, and frame. Once we get all of those cleaned we will paint the rest of the frame.

You are making this look way too easy. Your painted calipers look great. I bought red for mine and now I know it was a good choice. Nice little cat btw, as the owner of 8 cats, I figured I had to throw that in. I look forward to more updates, keep up the great work.

Does anyone know if the two rear cross members are the same between 4-wheel drive and 2-wheel drive?

We got the cab off today. Now I need to clean and paint my frame. I am still on the hunt to find the rear cross-members locally. We also need to get the cab and front clip off of our parts truck and put them on my truck. We put an eye bolt in two of the cab mount holes and the two seat belt holes in the floor and hooked chains up to them and then to the engine hoist.

It's been a while since I posted so here is an update. I have been cleaning the frame and drive train in preparation for paint. I found the rear most cross member from a 2 wheel drive that fit perfectly. I am still looking for the cross member located under the very front of the box as well as a transfercase adapter. I found some pictures of the truck we are getting the front clip and cab from.

I got the frame painted back to where the cab sits on the frame. I wish the frame didn't have the little craters in it from the winters up here but it is what it is. I still have some frame repairs to do before I can paint the rest of the frame. After the frame is painted we will put the running gear back in and install new brake lines. We finally found a transfer case adapter and the cross-member we needed. I am working on cleaning the tranny and transfer case so I can paint them. We also replaced the output shaft seals on the transfer case.

We got the engine in and I got the new transfer case adapter painted. We got the tranny and transfer case seperated from the old adapter and I am in the process of getting the tranny and transfer case cleaned and painted.
