What part of Kansas are you in? I'm in the process of getting a 49 chevy and your build gives me a lot of good ideas. Keep the pics coming.. Hause located in Lawrence, Kansas |

Thanks 58 GMC, I've been checking your build thread, nice work!
Yes bobski, its just a 5.3. wanted a 6.0 but this is more affordable. Hause, you going to the good guys show in Kansas City in a couple of weeks? If so, look me up, my wife & I will be in a red 59 ford ranchwagon. Been workin off & on getting a little done. The pics I attached are showing mounting the radiator/ AC condensor & tranny cooler. I had to put the rad. fwd to make room for the stock fan so that made mounting kinda tuff. I took the chassis to the exhaust shop last week. I will add some pics of the exhaust if these come out ok. |

here are some shots of the 2.25" exhaust. Hung some stainless Magnaflow mufflers. If you look close, you can see the tail pipe even with the bottom of the gas tank. With the fender on the exhaust will not be seen.

Re: New project & forum jumper
Any more pics on the tri-bar rear suspension? I really want to put one in my truck and am also looking at the 4-link setup as well. Any thoughts or suggestion would be appreciated....

Re: New project & forum jumper
Man that is some top notch work there. Very impressive build!
|
Re: New project & forum jumper
sorry entourageguy, I don't have any more pics of the rear 4 bar instl. I went with the tri-angulated 4 link because there are less parts to locate, & leaves more room for the exhaust tubing because of not having the panhard rod that is required on the parallel bar 4 link. Not having to buy the panhard rod also reduces costs compared to the tri-angulated set up.

Just an up date, put some paint on Wednesday. Used some Dupont single stage. I still have the front fenders & hood to paint yet. Ran out of fair weather so not sure when I will get the rest painted.

Looking Good!

Re: New project & forum jumper
Nice work !!!
Question, when you move the rad. to the outside what happens to the inner fenders do you have to make some adj. in the sheet metal or is it a smaller rad. With the install of the engine was there room for the stock exhaust manifolds, and how about the steering shaft? |
Re: New project & forum jumper
Are you going with an all white paint scheme? Progress is looking good! Can't wait to get paint on mine.
|
Re: New project & forum jumper
To answer Solidaxel, the radiator is 20" wide so it fits within the stock rad. support, just moved fwd with the bottom kicked fwd. to gain clearance for the steering box. The stock pickup exhaust manifolds were too wide, so I used 1998 camaro manifolds because they tuck in real tight. I have about 1/4" clearance between the steering shaft & manifold after moving the columm outboard 1/4".
My pics don't convey the color very well Daniel U, I used a standard Dupont spector color (LS136) kinda looks like a light "drab green". It come out a little lighter than I wanted but I'll live with it. |
Re: New project & forum jumper
