Re: My "new" 1968 c20
Got her running real nice. She would stumble at low speed in high gear. Changed out the plugs they were all nice and tan no rich or lean conditions. Still rough did complete tune up better but not quite there . Checked timing way the hell retarted . Give it the correct timing runs like a champ . Feel stupid for not checking that first.

Other then it being a 69, it looks very similar in condition when i bought it last year. Love the long bed steppers:) |
Re: My "new" 1968 c20
Put a new steering box on yesterday. Next on the list is what feels like a lean miss at light throttle. Going to check for vac leaks. Carb may need to be cleaned/rebuilt. It was rebuilt before I bought it but they ran rusty cruddy gas through it.
Also I want to add a power booster to the brakes. Can I just buy something like this ? In the questions section it states it f for auto trans ? I assume it's because a 3 on the tree's linkage may hit. But mine is a 4 on the floor https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...del/c20-pickup |

Well I put on new shocks and noticed the right rear drum had a drip. Guess I need to replace the cylinders and shoes ordered them today at the zone. Hoping they are the right ones . But I did notice that all the hardware for the wood bed was in great shape as is the frame. I would believe the hardware is original. Going to get some por 15 for the rear part of the frame when I do the wood .

Got the wood out today. All the braces and frame are in great shape. Sometimes I forget I'm working in a 51 year old truck . Only cancer is on the front bed panel but it's not all that bad

Brakes all done . Sandblasting and paint next. I was thinking about selling this one but the more I get into it it's original, and you dont get that anymore. I'm going to keep this one.

Doing the rot work on the bed front section lip where the wood bolts to was weak. Only rust on the bed. Made the patch panel yesterday. Have to mark and cut old the old piece and butt weld the new one in

Re: My "new" 1968 c20
Nice progress:)
I'm not sure the metal cross members need to go in certain spots? But if they do....don't forget to number them when you remove them for clean and paint. I removed mine this winter and forgot to number them....they all look the same except one and i'm trying to see from your pictures were that would go?? Good call on keeping the long stepper. |

Picked up the white oak for the bed. Need to plane them down they are just over 4/4 so I need to get them down to 3/4. There is more than I need as they are 12 + footers only paid for what I needed though. So lots of bits to make stuff with.
