I always wanted a cabinet array in a shop and have been very fortunate the last few years to be able to get those things!

I have been using Solidworks since I was 17. Im now 31. Solidworks is about 75 percent of my day to day job.

Thanks! I have pretty much invested in tools for the last ten years in the hopes to one day have a shop to put them all in. I have just about any piece of fabrication equipment you could want along with a mill, Lathe, and some sheet metal tools.

Late friday the frame rails were delivered to my work. I hauled them home and got to work getting everything on the frame jig. I still have some work to do on squaring everything up but thanks to my jigs it is all very close already.

I have been planning and researching the brake setup for this build for a long time now. Maintaining 6 lug has made it interesting to source parts.

For instance, there are a couple people making 5 lug hubs that fit the 73-87 spindles but nobody makes them in 6 lug because there is really no demand for it.

My solution was to get cpp 6 lug conversion rotors and cut the rotor off the hub portion.
I did some measuring and found the thickness of the casting for the hub section to be 0.75" so I scribed a line all the way around and the cutoff wheel made fairly quick work of the cast.

I still need to spin them on the lathe to true up the cut but I essentially now have 6 lug hubs that will allow me to use slip on rotors.

In hindsight the better solution here would have been to design around a more common spindle that had 6 lug options available. I think something that uses a standard gm 6 lug unit bearing would have been ideal.
For now Im going to continue with my current approach but I may revisit this in the future.


The rotors Im planning to run are pretty interesting and should be in this week.

You could have used the '88-'98 light duty C2500 rotors to make your hubs. They use the same bearings as the '73-'87 spindles. The only drawback is they have Metric studs.

Yep that is basically a fireball vise. I modeled it up and changed it a bit for some improvements I thought could be made. I bought his plans even though I didnt use them at all but I wanted to support him since it was his idea in the first place. Im itching to get my hands on some of his squares!

The rear rotors came in. These are first gen Cadillac CTS-V front rotors. They are 355mm(14")

The first gen CTS-V was 6 lug for some reason. Even though it is a smaller 6 lug I can redrill them to the proper 6x5.5 easily.
The best part is they are very affordable at around $100 for the pair.

I got one of the front rotors in so I could make sure they are going to work for me.
There was a factory upgrade available on some gm half ton vehicles that used these 16.1" brembo rotors and 6 piston brembo calipers. I was able to source these replacement rotors from rock auto for $60 each.

Since they are plain rotors I set them up on the mill and added some slots for style.

The clearance in the wheel is really tight even though they are 22s. The low offset and shape of the transit wheels really only leaves 18.5" of room for caliper clearance. I need to get a caliper and verify clearance before I go any further with these brakes.

Found a little time to work on the truck today. Ive had these upper link mounts cut out for a while waiting to be built.
Its super satisfying how well they key onto the frame!

My Moser M9 axle housing came in! Very impressed with the quality all around.

If the rest of my parts get back from the plasma cutter tomorrow I should have a completed rear 4 link by the end of the weekend. :metal:

My upper links didnt get back from the machine shop on Friday so I didnt get as much done this weekend as I hoped.

I got the axle squared and located and tacked in the link mounts and finally got to bolt in those gorgeous lower links. :metal:

I spent some of the weekend working on the swaybar design. It is comprised of off the shelf circle track components.
I will make a custom adapter nut that utilized the lower link bolt as a mounting point for the swaybar linkage.

Curious... I need a source for a 'build-specific' larger front bar & wondering if where you're sourcing the parts for this might have what I need. Care to share any related info?

I feel I need >1.25" solid front bar but seem to be struggling on locating something.

Im using some quirky circle track stuff on the back that is pretty soft.

On the front I will probably use Speedway Engineering stuff.

Speedway engineering sway bars have always been great to me in the offroad world and we sure tortured them. Kartek is a great company to buy them through and their custom service is top notch. Lots of length and stiffness options on the bars and quite a few arm options as well. :cheers:
