Re: My 42 Project
window looks great.what company did you use for the seal?are you not going to use the outer trim ring?

Re: My 42 Project
Hey Chizzler, they only had the outer trim ring till 1941 after that they changed the way the window was mounted.

Re: My 42 Project
Thanks. The seal is from Filling Station. I use them because they are real accurate and fit great. I didn't have the die cast trim so I had the glass company make it in the 46 style. I guess the glass is different for the trim. I like the look of the die cast but in 42 they had gotten rid of all the chrome. My headlight rings are painted brass. Not sure what I am going to do with those

Re: My 42 Project
I am working on my side windows today. I had the glass made to fit without the metal frames. I am using stock regulators and am not sure what to do about how to attach the glass to the regulator. I installed the bottom track of the metal frame window to the all glass window and it is twisting and binding. Any ideas about a bottom track or do I need to make something?

Re: My 42 Project
got it figured out. I am using 51 to 54 glass channel. It is the same size and it holds the window better. I will post pics when I get them.

Re: My 42 Project
I have been trying to get the windshield frame apart for the new glass and just doesn't want to come apart. All the screws have been removed and I have been soaking it in PBR but it is just stuck any ideas?

Re: My 42 Project
mine was the same way.you can try to put one end on the floor under your foot and try to wiggle it back and fourth.or try the same method and pop the corners up with a rubber mallet.depending on if your going to re-use the glass you could break the glass out which might take some tension of the connecting bars.good luck.

Attachment 1164849i decided to go 3/4 ton 1970 frame. Somebody gave me the frame. I will get to use my factory flatbed and it's cheap to buy parts for. Small block with a 350 and headers. Lokar shifter late model column. Two universals for power steering. Big brakes and easy no haste driving anywhere I want to go.

Re: My 42 Project
The motor is at the machine shop and is going to be ready next week. Should go in on Saturday. Then I can make final adjustments to the cab. Also scored a rebuilt 700r4 for it and with a lokar shifter in the almost stock position, that will look cool. Pics next week. Thanks for subscribing

Re: My 42 Project
sorry it took so long to get back to this. I have seen that piece on ebay.
Sold the 54. The woodie is done so its time to get back to this |
Re: My 42 Project
so its been a while. Changed the idea back to the original direction. Built a gantry and moved the body back to the original chassis. Installed the new sbc and 700r4, ended up rebuilding it also. Used mounts for 47-53. the worked great just had to cut them to fit. Installed a 55 car rear end. Rebuilt it with 308 gears new bearings and brakes. Looking for a radiator that will fit with the radiator support brackets. I installed corvette cast iron exhaust manifolds and they are clearing the steering box so that is cool. I guy gave me some original 46 bed sides so I am on the hunt for steel rear fenders.
