Nice looking build, looks like you started with a really solid truck

I was off work today so I hammered away at the tear down. Interior is gutted, wiring is removed, Gas tank is out (probably should have emptied it first.. had a half a tank in it), Doors are removed and cab is unbolted and waiting on me and a few friends to lift it off.

Once I get the cab off and the chassis rolled out the door Ill bring the bed in and get it striped and then start doing all the patch work on it and the cab and doors.

Right now my goal is to have the body work done before spring and hopefully have everything painted.

Heres a few pics of where we are... The last one is of the digger scoop I bought from Elliot949, Its early for stuff like that but Ill need it for paint so...

In the pics in my last post... is there anything I can do to stop the rust inside the channel around the windshield? Something that can be sprayed inside that channel?

Thank you sir, It will look so much better with the dress up and paint, but its going to go perfectly with the build.

They are Chevy Volt seats... brand new never installed. I got the back seat as well so i can try to use the material on the center console I plan on building and maybe use some on the door panels too. 350 bucks for it all.... and the bonus is that i also got the rear side impact air bags to play with :metal:

Thanks man...
Got the doors gutted and did more stripping inside the cab. I dont know what kind of paint that is in there but it does NOT wanna come out without a fight.

After getting the doors gutted I think I better order another inner bottom patch for the right side as well.

Ive been waiting to start any patching for after the entire thing is bare just in case I have to order any other patches. Bed included. But Im about sick of this stripping part. That thing has way to many paint jobs stacked up on it. Far as I can tell its 5 different paint jobs.

What types of stripping methods are you using?

The only thing working in the cab with all the curves and tight places is a good ole wire brush on the drill. Any pads I tried to use with the grinder just gums up in a few seconds. I tried to use some airplane paint stripper and It just makes a mess. The exterior isnt too bad just using a stripping disk. The cab exterior, doors and fender Im re-using is done Its just so many coats and with that top coat one that gums everything up its killing me. I have one more inside pillar and the roof section. I plan on using a roof panel with speaker mounts that should cover most if it so I may just wait to get the panel and see how much I really need to strip.

Just hammering away at it till its done is all I think I can do.

Are you going to do anything to straighten the headrests or does the angle not bother you?

the stripped cab looks good! The part of the frame that was cut out looks like it was for a manual trans crossmember. Does the frame have any damage on the upper half?

Ill have to cross that bridge when i get to it... Im thinking I may end up pulling the headrests off and put some sort of Aluminum plugs in the holes... Still in the air.

No, it looks nice everywhere else... That would be a bit to far forward for a cross member I would think... It may have been for a clutch fork or something since its right where one would be. It was a factory stick on the tree as it still has the clutch pedal assembly with the rod and has a low hump but I have no idea what the notch was really for.

I really dont like the 350th with the low gear and no OD so I have to do something... since the pedal is already there, Im thinking 5 speed OD or 6 speed with double OD may be in order. I want the bottom get up and go with the freeway ability at a comfortable 70 to 80 MPH. That alone will add about 3k to the project though...

After pulling the hinges from the doors this is what I found behind the upper driver side... Is there a patch available for this spot?
