Re: Corner Speaker Install for 67-72 Pickup ?

How about these, they look like they will fit in the rear corner of my cab and they are inexpensive. I was thinking about doing the 6 X 9 now and later adding a amp and a mono sub........see what you guys think....

6 x 9 with enclosures I think they will fit in my 66 gmc :
http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/S...9804/SFV/30046

Later a subwoofer:
http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/S...9162/SFV/30046

That seem like a pretty low priced system to me: I am going with a retrosound classic radio $199.00 will use this to drive the 2 6x9s, later use the back channels to drive the subwoorer

$199.00
62.95
77.95
20.00 shipping total about $380.00 plus maybe a mono amp $100.00

pretty inexpensive system.........don't you think.......

Re: Corner Speaker Install for 67-72 Pickup ?

Good news guys. I got the brackets all figured out, put in CAD, printed 1:1 on paper, glued to the carboard, cut out, and mocked up in the cab corner. Brackets fit perfect, and even house the higher end speakers with the larger 4" magnets no problem! Tomorrow I am sending the CAD file to the machine shop to get the first test bracket laser cut. I should have it back in about a week I assume, from there I will form it, test fit it, take pics and post for you guys to see. If it fits as I suspect it will, I'll place an order for 50 brackets...or 25 pairs.

To help offset initial out of pocket expense, I would like to take pre-orders once I get the test bracket mocked up. Unless there is a high enough demand, I won't make any more than my initial order.

Thanks for your patience fellas!

I won't know until I get a quote from the shop. These brackets are larger than the 73-87 version, are a 2 piece design, have more mounting hardware, and will cost more to ship. I am hoping to be within $10 of the 73-87's, which are $65 shipped anywhere in the lower 48.

are they pre punched for the speaker??
if not (I'd rather use my 6.5 mid bass driver and 3"mid in these plates)
over 6by9s

I should be able to have them made with NO openings, you can cut your own. However, I would require payment up front before I have them made. I had guys tell me that with the 73-87 brackets, so I had 4 made with no holes...I pretty much had to give them away or donate them to the board here and none of them kept their word.

let me know the final price, and after see'n the mock up I'll send a deposit.
of half the total to show good faith..
I have a set of 6by9 to 6.5 adapters but they are thin plastic and I'd rather not use that if I can..
shipping would be to 02302
thanks

I would be interested in blanks too. I have no problem paying up front.

Re: Corner Speaker Install for 67-72 Pickup ?

Shop called, test bracket is ready to be picked up. I'll bend it up tonight and install it..if all goes well, I'll place my order for 25 sets, 3 or so with NO holes.

I should mention, as I want to be clear, these will only work on trucks with relocated tanks, like the OP posted.

I will get pics up likely tomorrow, and can then take pre-orders...which would really help me neutralize the initial up front cost.

Those who are interested, please let me know if the tank location is an issue for you.

Are you coming out for anything with stock tanks?

There is NO room on the drivers side for anything...so not at this time. Don't know where you would even put another speaker, and in a place that would sound good.

OK, first and foremost, my camera is about to find it's way into the trash can..once I can afford a new one that will actually work. I apologize for the crummy pictures, I'll get better ones with a borrowed camera tomorrow night.

Here are a couple real quick shots of the test bracket installed, and a large magnet throw away speaker installed in it. You are looking at a bare 16 ga steel bracket, with no modifications or finish applied.

This went in very easy, and fits extremely well. It covers the backside of the door jamb perfectly and hides all the bolts and bracketry nicely. The bottom bracket that bolts to the floor and attaches to the front side of the bracket is adjustable, allowing these to be installed nicely and snugly for trucks with carpeting, rubber mat, or bare steel.

You will need to have relocated your in-cab tank and jack assembly to install these in your truck.

I should have a quote from the shop tomorrow, and will be able to price these at that time.

Please provide any feedback if you like.

Thanks!

Jeff, the cab corner speaker brackets look really good. Sure glad now I moved my in-cab fuel tank to under the bed. Speaker locations aren't real prevalent in the 67-72 cab.
