Almost finished detailing the transmission. Need to find stamps to do the "6Y" and get a top cover gasket.

Got the engine soda blasted and metal prepped. Re: 1966 F100 Short/Fleen Full Stock Resto Build Thread
Painted the I-beams, backing plates, and steering arms.

This will make the paint lay down much nicer! http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...62209375_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...16138630_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...30668468_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...35541332_n.jpg |
Re: 1966 F100 Short/Fleen Full Stock Resto Build Thread
I'll shoot the water pump and other blue parts separately. The valve covers and air filter housing will be bodyworked and sprayed with high build primer to smooth them out before painting. Might even wetsand/buff them! :uhmk:

Assembled the front brakes yesterday: http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...51334127_n.jpg The leaf spring buttons (NOS) came in the mail last night so I assembled the spring packs today and loosely bolted them on the axle, then rolled the frame inside and took it off the rotisserie. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...70415475_n.jpg Axle/springs installed on the frame. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...06345709_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...16000634_n.jpg |

Started assembling the front suspension, enough to get it rolling. Still need to prime/paint the springs and steering parts. We found a company to rebuild the steering box so we'll send it off soon. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...98679011_n.jpg Brakes assembled. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...18957089_n.jpg Painted the shocks the correct black color. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...81660708_n.jpg |
Re: 1966 F100 Short/Fleen Full Stock Resto Build Thread
Just waiting on pressure plate bolts so we can get the engine/trans installed back in the frame.
I primed/painted the front springs and trans X member and installed them. Also installed new stainless brake lines with detailed original clamps. The distribution block was soaked and cleaned, then bead blasted and cleared. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...15196042_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...75304640_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...32995481_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...21657880_n.jpg Resurfaced flywheel installed, painted the bellhousing and bolted it up with blasted/painted clutch fork. Also painted the water pump. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...40707253_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...32320601_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...71724246_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...84592065_n.jpg |

Re: 1966 F100 Short/Fleen Full Stock Resto Build Thread
Found numbers stamped on the driveshaft so we'll replicate them. Also detailed the yoke and installed it. Wetsanded the shaft and put it on the buffer before masking and painting it a cast color.

Re: 1966 F100 Short/Fleen Full Stock Resto Build Thread
Driveshaft is blasted, epoxied, wetsanded, and painted. We had a stencil made at a local decal shop to replicate the original part number stamp.

Re: 1966 F100 Short/Fleen Full Stock Resto Build Thread
We blasted the valve covers, then I shot them with DTM high build to fill the minor rust pits, wetsanded them smooth, then sprayed three coats of urethane single stage.
http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...51688545_n.jpg Driveshaft is installed with detailed U-joints. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...24229779_n.jpg http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...07086665_n.jpg Started painting and installing some of the engine parts. Waiting on the bypass hose clamps, alternator, distributor, flanged manifold bolts, and starter to come in so we can finish it up. Also need to find a carburetor. http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/s...14548422_n.jpg |
