Re: Nobaddaze's 82 C10 Cruiser Build

Ill betcha I could cut a hole inside the cab. Pull out thei seized stud and nut combo out the top and weld in a nice fancy new nut. Thanks for the good idea, I'm gonna try here soon

did you ever put the 70s clip on before u tore it all the way down??

Nobaddaze 05-11-2011 07:19 PM

Re: Nobaddaze's 82 C10 Cruiser Build

ive never had the clip fully together. dont have a hood. but i did hang the fenders and core support with no issues. i do know that the lights have different connectors for the harness but i expected that. why do you ask? Do you know something i dont?:dohh:

The front of the frames on the 73-80 to 81-87 are different, so the front bumper mounting may require some work. I had to cut my 75 frame to fit the newer style bumper.

i had the 4 head light
he is right there. when i did the swap all the wiring worked for me that was original to the truck i just dont have high beams witch is fine for me right now. i just had to change the turn signal housing thats under the head light on the older front end.. and also i had to move the radiator mounts that are riveted to the frame forward a inch

Was it just the horns that bolt to the front that you had to modify? How do you think it would look if i ran the stock 82 front bumper with the 79 core support. (might be a stupid question)

Re: Nobaddaze's 82 C10 Cruiser Build

Did you guys have any other major issues with the swap? im doing a new harness so i figured i could do whatever i need to get the lights and signals working.

What was the reason for moving the radiator mount forward an inch? im kinda confused but its not the first time

Re: Nobaddaze's 82 C10 Cruiser Build

Do not run that bumper with the round eyes. Haha. I think it looks gross, but that is just my opinion. I'm in the middle of my swap, (im swapping the other way). I noticed the side brackets don't line up either. I'm gonna have to do some modifying on mine anyways because im z'ING it and trying to retain my swaybar, so I won't be much help. I have feeling you may need to drill new holes as well, but I could be wrong.

Sorry but Im not sure what your asking. The center caps came installed on my wheels when I picked em up. never had an issue with installation. Is there a difference maybe with 1-1/4" rotors? I have 1" rotors. Can you be more specific?

mcboomport 05-12-2011 11:46 AM

Re: Nobaddaze's 82 C10 Cruiser Build

Some aftermarket wheels require that the rotor be machined to fit the center caps. My Bonspeed caps wont fit over the rotor. I have to get mine machined. Its always something.....

Re: Nobaddaze's 82 C10 Cruiser Build

wow, ive never heard of that. like i said, ive had no issues with mine so far. my buddy on here (bmfpeterson) has my wheels on his 71 with no issues either. Good luck

Re: Nobaddaze's 82 C10 Cruiser Build

Ya man that must be the problem, I have inch and a quarters and the hub sticks out about a half inch past the wheel. Anyways truck looks good man

mcboomport 05-12-2011 01:03 PM

Re: Nobaddaze's 82 C10 Cruiser Build

Its not necessarily how far the rotor sticks out. Its the taper on the cap, at least on mine. The cap is definitely long enough, the rotor diameter is to large, and I can't take any more meat out of the cap, so the rotor needs to go on a lathe. Mine are 1.25" as well.
