I picked up a pretty nice gas tank for $20 bucks today, and deluxe heater with inside air duct, controls, and cables for another $20. Not sure yet if I'll convert it to a deluxe heater or save that for Goldilocks. Shot of the inside of the tank. I'll clean it with muriatic acid to get the rust out before installing it. http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2307afbc.jpg Also peeled back the newer seat covers to find that the original cover is still there. Hopefully the base is decent enough to live with, the vinyl cover that's on it is pretty nasty looking. http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psba62da0d.jpg |

[QUOTE=theastronaut;6372829]I posted in a few "for sale" groups on facebook that are local, someone should have them close by. We do a good bit of glass work for a local shop that installs lift kits, they should have a set.

I need to do a couple Suburban tanks. |

I would have gotten rid of the slider too....don't care for them personally unless theres a camper on the back.

Picked up a pair of free jeep springs today and also a fuel sending unit. Going to pull the seat, tank, and old fuel lines tomorrow after work.
This is the look I'm going for, except I'll keep the original caps. Quote:

Then drive the wheels off of it.

I love the Cropwell truck.

Re: Winter Beater Build- '66 BBW Custom Short/Fleet with Heat!
Pulled the seat and tank tonight, then cleaned all the trash out... in the rain. :waah:
The interior is nasty, definitely my least favorite part of the truck. The floormat is in decent shape though, so I'll pilfer it and use it in Goldilocks until reproductions are made or I find a NOS mat. ;) http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps426e0d00.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2cfd1eb8.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps07765437.jpg |

Re: Winter Beater Build- '66 BBW Custom Short/Fleet with Heat!
I had the "Choose your drop" instructions on a PDF on my last computer but a bad beer accident nixed that. Sorry!
So you went with the TJ coils? I have heard so much either way about using them for a rear drop. Some have said they did a good drop, others said they didn't do anything. Almost everyone speaks of the loss of payload ability. I think its truck dependent. Meaning, how much the truck was used and what kind of sag it has. You truck looks to be in great shape and sits pretty high so it will be a good candidate to settle the TJ coil mystery once and for all. Take measurements! |

Re: Winter Beater Build- '66 BBW Custom Short/Fleet with Heat!
Your truck looks like it is in pretty good shape overall. Get the few things done to it and then drive the wheels off of it...I hope to find one like it someday, good luck with your new find!

Re: Winter Beater Build- '66 BBW Custom Short/Fleet with Heat!
Worked on the fuel lines today and cleaned the tank.
We bought Eastwood's tubing flare set awhile back as haven't used it yet so I tried it out on the pump-to-carb line. Works great! http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psjdw5yslm.jpg After bending, flaring, and installing line from the FLAPS. http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pskierdxll.jpg New pump, flex lines, and filter. http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3tbpltvt.jpg Drying out the tank. http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1tpnm20f.jpg Found out why the shifter doesn't work... http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pslrp8gqfj.jpg |

The filler neck and grommet came in today so I painted the tank and got it ready to install. Should have it in and running tonight. http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psfb4699d1.jpg |
