Tim those Pullman shells are cool. I've never knew they existed. The jeep on top is a little scary though. How do you get it up there and then down?

In the brochure, the camper roof is "guaranteed" to support 750lbs. Since a Jeep CJ3 curbs about three times that, it must be a strength demonstration once so very common in advertising.

Can't do that these days because some idiot would try to do it and kill someone in the process, and then sue the pants of the company - and win.

I have too admit that the only thing that gets me down about owning a Longhorn is the lack of camper tops out there. I'd love too find a camper, heck even just a cap for my truck to use when i go camping but they just aren't out there....

So just build a period style topper to fit your truck.

That's my son's truck. We found it near Prescott, AZ. The guy we bought it from received it in trade for some goats. He didn't have any use for it and posted it on CL for $150. He gave me the dimensions and they were right on for the stepper. When I asked if he knew the type of truck his friend had, he said it was a 1967 C10 short bed step side.

I don't really like the one that came with my truck, prefer a period aluminum. But it's winter and wet so I tossed it back on. Got an extra Corvair engine in the back right now.

Oops, got a little finger in the pic

Pulled these from another thread same topic. I had lost these pics of my truck so I was happy to find them! I wish I would have had pictures of this set up after I put the NOS grill, insert, emblem, and the chrome bumper. Also had the mirrors and step bumper all redone. Unfortunately the canopy never went back on before the truck went to its new home.

Very heavy duty canopy. Made of steel not aluminum. My father in law used it on his K20 farm truck. Had it hung from a pulley system in one of the machine sheds ... I talked him out of it lol.

Bringin this back to the top (after a 10 day hiatus), cuz, well, I wanna see some more!

Question for Pete: I think I recall reading it somewhere but can't find it - what kind of camper is on your GMC? Any mfgr/model info appreciated. Looks kinda like a Lil Colt!

I THINK the below 74 (sorry, didn't have a pic on a 67-72) is a Lil Colt. This is probably my 2nd favorite camper shell, 2nd only to Pete's. (this 74 was nothing to sneeze at either, you could eat off the bed floor...)
