Re: Put 'em to work pics !!!
I read the story about your 66, but atleast you got a free lowering kit and fire wood out of the deal!

Re: Put 'em to work pics !!!
Well my 63 works for its living; couldn't justify keeping it if it didn't.
Hauling firewood seems to be a recurring theme, us Brits like to do this dressed in "traditional" costume..... http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...ear2008016.jpg ....likewise building houses. Had to be careful of low bridges on this trip, luckily it was only a couple of miles! http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...utlater033.jpg Now these old 305 engines like a drop or two of gas, so for longer trips a reserve tank is essential.....;) http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...chfault002.jpg .... and since I couldn't figure out a way of fitting a HIAB crane, tipping off dump bags of building sand has to be done the old-fashioned way! http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...ildpics027.jpg Finally, a nice atmospheric shot; I'd just bought a mixer off e-bay from Cardiff (about 60 miles from me) so we stopped for a burger and a brew on the way back. Could have been taken anywhere in the USA I guess, but it's actually Bridgend in Wales. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...0Pics/test.jpg |
Re: Put 'em to work pics !!!

Thanks buddy. I figure that owning an old truck is kinda like owning a retired cart-horse; it don't do 'em any harm to do a little light work now and then! |
Re: Put 'em to work pics !!!
I love to put my truck to work. Usually it's hauling a few little things to the dump. But today I have to move my engine from my porch to the back yard. Finally ready to fire it up. Then soon it will go into my truck.:smoke:

Actually it didnt budge after being straped down. I went around the corner to the store with it. Of course I would'nt have gone much further than that.

Re: Put 'em to work pics !!!
Well, over Memorial Day weekend, my wife wanted to go to Lowes to get a few things for the back yard. I failed to ask what the "few" items were.
The pictures are a little deceiving as below the bags of mulch and dirt are 8 - 12"x12" cement stepping blocks and one 24"x24" block. also there are some metal edging that was longer than the bed. Luckily my wife brought along an old comforter - I thought she was just being extra careful to protect the truck from the "few" things she needed and thought it was a sweet gesture, but without it, the edging would have scratched the crap out of my tailgate. The best part was the look on the Lowes employee's face who helped me load the cement blocks - he asked me 2 or 3 times if I really wanted to load it into the truck. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...rd61/035-1.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...rd61/034-1.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...rd61/038-1.jpg It only droped the rear by 1-1.5" and handled it well. I don't know how much it weighed but I know I could hardly push the cart it was on.... |
