Here's some updated pics of mine. Original plan was to lower it with springs, after that decided i wanted it lower so i bagged it. Dominator 2600's with Accuair control. Its currently apart awaiting an 8.1l transplant!!

That's a great looking truck! How are the bags holding up? Did the transplant affect the ride quality? I'm sure the bags are having a hard time with all that weight!

Thanks. I'm still in the process of putting it all back together. I've cycled the suspension up and down and it air up quicker than I thought. I think that the 2600's will handle it very well.

Wild4wheels...I have just bought a 72 Cheyenne super c20 custom camper. I want it to sit like the green and white one in your pics. What did you do to get that look?? Thanks.

Ahh, an age old question that has been tossed around for a while. one, no, not my truck- I thought someone on the board actually knew the owner at one time. I believe it was a dropped spindle/spring combo. (4/6?) It's been a year and a half since I've searched but there was one company still making 2.5 inch dropped spindles for c-20s Airbagit? chassis tech? That teal colored c20 picture that I posted was just on ebay a couple weeks ago- I think the guy was asking 10k. Sorry I can't help more

Thanks for the info wild4wheels. I will look into those drop spindles and leaf drops.

Re: C20 lowered pictures

So will these drop spindles work with the 63-70 a arms and steering components?

Re: C20 lowered pictures

I think if you do these type you will need to do a front disc conversion. I'm sure you could call the company and find out for sure.

Re: C20 lowered pictures

If i gotta do a disc conversion thats fine as I've been wanting to do it for a while.

Actually after a little more research I might just go with this setup.

Re: C20 lowered pictures

I used CPP 5" drop coils in the rear and cut 1 round out of the front.

Re: C20 lowered pictures

POL has drop spindles for c-20's. Ya gotta realign the front end afterward though... I think the steering arm length is a bit longer.

Wow I surprised how much lower than stock it looks with only 2.5/4.

Do you have a side shot, on level ground you could post showing if the truck looks level now?

I still haven't dropped mine, but it has recently moved from rural to city and this might be a good time to lower it.

Re: C20 lowered pictures

chevy2tom is your truck coil or leaf rear?

chevy2tom 10-12-2014 03:19 PM

Re: C20 lowered pictures

Coil, from what I've read chevys were coil & GMC was leaf in the 3/4 ton

northerngmc 10-12-2014 03:49 PM

Re: C20 lowered pictures

Thanks for the pics.

Looking at the options, why did you go with drop spindles instead of coils on the front? For my 68 this would mean going to disk brakes, but I guess your truck would already have disk brakes.

Here's mine before and after.

BEFORE
(stock coils front and rear)

AFTER
(2" lowering coils from GMCPauls in rear)

I've had the springs on for a couple of months now. The truck's attitude is a lot better IMO and they softened up the ride in the rear. After lowering, I had a minor clearance problem with the passenger side exhaust pipe and the upper panhard bar bracket. The bracket dented the pipe a tad. I found as long as I don't bounce the truck violently, I'm OK. I rarely load anything in back, so no problem there.

How hard was the install? How long did it take?

Thanks for the pics, exactly what I was looking for. Shows the 2" in the rear with lower it, so 2/4 should drop it and have it level.
