Jesse,
I love your truck, man. That is a great starting point. Its EXACTLY what I was looking for before I found my '46. You're a lucky young guy, congratulations. I didn't read through your entire thread so I don't know what your plans for it are, but if you're like most young guys you are thinking of MORE POWER. I can relate, but the straight six can look cool too. And if your budget doesn't let you think about it seriously then I have a suggestion that I personally think is SO damn nice. I got these pictures from this site. This engine is a 292 and the truck is a '68 obviously but fully pimped out appearance wise. Anyway, you could easily duplicate this with a LOT of elbow grease, some select parts off Craigslist, maybe a polishing wheel from Harbor Freight and some Krylon. Hope it gives you ideas. Best, Dan |
Re: My 68 c10
THAT truck looks great im not into power so i guess im not like most kids my age.

Re: My 68 c10
lol nah im koo with my 307
|
Re: My 68 c10
looks good! congrats!

Re: My 68 c10
Jesse, I think the 307 will have plenty of power for you if it's not worn to the point of needing a rebuild. Even if it does, a mostly stock rebuild using a kit from someplace like PAW is pretty cheap. Just a nice dual plane intake manifold, headers & HEI will make it a solid runner mechanically. Personally, I'd clean it up too and put "go fast" accessories like polished valve covers on it, but that's just my $.02. Best, Dan

Re: My 68 c10
hopefully you were a well informed buyer, but the spid indicates it was originally a 127" wheel base which means long bed. Nice truck though, should make for a good project.
EDIT: Sorry didn't see that you caught it was a lwb. I vote big block. |
Re: My 68 c10
yeah it was converted. from a long bed to short bed.

Re: My 68 c10
Congrats on your truck! I'm sure its gonna be a showstopper! Where can I find the "thriftmaster" decals that are on the valve covers? Are they original? Who reproduces them? I have a base 307, and I would like to put them on if it was that way from the factory.
|
Re: My 68 c10
im actually not sure about those decals to be honest ill do some researching
i am going to put some other valve covers on. |
Re: My 68 c10

Re: My 68 c10
Chiming in from H-Town, Good Luck on your build, you have a great looking truck. Many of us could only dream of having the resources and facilities that you have at your age. Its really good that you are taking advantage of it. I will keep up with your build. You got plenty of "ganas" so I'm sure it will end up fabulous.......

Re: My 68 c10
well today my dad asked me would i rather make sure the truck is running fine and not put in the new intake carburetor and 700r4 in right now and just do my body work i chose to do that before doing my body work.
so the plans on a 67 are on hold until "crooked" get a tune up =]] |
