Wow that is a beautiful truck! Actually, damned near flawless! Is that stock suspension height? Does it steer hard with the 33x12.50's and manual steering?

The suspension is stock and it's a bit tough to steer. We are trying to find the best way to go about installing power steering. Even if it's not original we feel that for safety that it's needed and will make driving a lot easier.

And we plan to find a stock radio to put in the opening for looks and wire a separate CD player under the seat.

Re: Our '68 K20

On the radio just put a non radio plate. The truck probably was not equipped with a radio being a civil service truck. I am just speculating. I still keep coming back and looking at the pic's. SO SWEET

Steering parts are not that hard to find. They are commond to a lot of models.

Re: Our '68 K20

I found an NOS AM radio on Ebay for about $40, some go for $80 or that's a good idea about the "radio delete" plate.

Do you have the stock front closed knuckle axle? If you do some searches on here you will see the issues of the power steering. Takes a little mod to mount it to the frame since our frames are missing the "dimple" and "raised pads" but it can be done....

I thought the '67's were the only frames not "dimpled" for power steering? Were the '68 4x4's also not dimpled...or were the frame rails different for manual steering trucks? Just curious.

Re: Our '68 K20

My frame isn't dimpled. I tryed fitting the 70 P/S box to the GMC yesterday, and it was just a disaster. 1 bolt hole lined up, there was about an inch of clearence between the steering arm and the leaf spring, the box hit the core support mount. So, today I'm putting my manual steering box back in.

Sorry for the hijack, thats a beautiful 68 Chevy. (I can't get over how pretty it is:lol:)

go to the parts board, usually one for sale. You will have to paint it to match your truck color.

beautiful truck!

i love the stance with the ire size, nice choice. io also love that you didn't touch the original motor, just paint. That thing would pull anything, especially with 4.56 gears.

simply unbelivable.

Re: Our '68 K20

For power steering you could put ram assist power steering on.That's what the 67-68s had anyway. That way you dont have to modify your frame. You dont even have to change steering boxes! And for those wondering..69 is when they started "dimpling" the frames, whether it had power steering or not.67-68s had no dimples in the frame whether it had ram assist power steering or manual steering.

Truck looks great!

There were a couple on the parts board in the last two or three weeks. List a WTB on the board and you will find the parts!:) I just looked at my 68 c20 2wd. it has a dimpled frame with standerd P.S.. You might want to check your frame before you buy a ram set up.

I take it this box will only work if my frame has a dimple?

*edit NVM that's not the gear box

Re: Our '68 K20

Hey Dustin, what is ram assist? Is that the shock like thing mounted horizontally on the front?
