thanks for all the advice. alot of ppl on the board that i've seen find these trucks all the time. i really want one swb it doesn't matter to me really stepside or fleetside. it's just a matter of i'm going to be driving it daily. i'm getting out of the navy in 2 years and i don't want to have any payments on anything when i get out. if i can find one that's a good driveable one for about the same price then i'll just wait. i've seen post from quite a few of yall on diff trucks and yall really seem to know what you're talking about. thanks. and thanks for all the thanks for your service. it's just another job like yall do on a daily basis. i wont be back stateside until around christmas time so i have awhile before i get back i'd just like to find one around arkansas so i can just get it while i'm home on leave then drive it out to washington

Don't get in too much of a hurry to buy one. Especially if you aren't going to get it until you get back anyways. All good things come to those who wait. I too was in a hurry to get one and my wife told me to wait. Not too long after that I found the 68 Short Wide I have now and got it for $700. Granted it did not have an engine, but the $2800 difference would go a long way.

Just wait. One will come along that you can't pass up.

Wait and watch for others and I agree find one close to you. Check it out, looked at a 71 LWB for $1500 that was a $800 ride wouldn't budge off the 1500. I rather spend more for one that has less work.

Where is it in PA? I am in northeastern MD and would go look at it for you if it is not too far.

Truck looks ok from here behind my monitor but its always better to buy something when your standing next to it.... But if its something you just have to have then buy it...

Might be a dumb question, but why not wait until your back in Washington and look for one there? There are a bunch of board members in that area that probably have a line on some good trucks. You will probably have a much better experience overall. I know how hard it is to wait. But buying a truck all the way across the country, not really knowing how well it will travel that kind of distance, possibly needing roadside repairs. You end up adding all that travel cost and you're looking at more like $4000 plus any repairs. And if anything major breaks, then what? You rent a truck and tow dolly and spend several hundred more. Add taxes and licensing and you're really spending about $4500 with the transportation costs.

I think you could do much better spending a bit more money at your duty station when you'll have the time and local resources to help you out. There is nothing about that truck special you can't find out west. Just think how much closer california and the other dry western states are. Much better potential for finding a solid truck.

I did my time in the navy and know what it's like to be in your position. I'd say let this one go. I'm not saying the truck isn't worth it. I just think it's not the best deal in your situation. Keep looking and researching, checking the ads, etc. Knowledge is power.

well i'd like to have a truck to drive back from arkansas when i went home on leave. i don't think i'm going to buy this truck i've been looking since i started thinking about this truck and for a thousand or two more i can find a nice driver. or even if i could get one that i had to put a motor and transmission in but would be a nice driver i would take because i know the motor tranny set-up that i want. it is hard to wait and i haven'thad a vehicle in awhile i wrecked my other car and couldn't drive it then got deployed twice so i haven't had one in awhile. and these year model trucks are def my dream truck esp to have a daily driver as one. of course mods would come as i'm driving it. i found one on the site not sure how much he wants for the body but it has everything but a motor. power steering power brakes a/c everything. it's an a/c cab a 68. it has been dropped a little not sure how much. but the body is straight with no rust. how much would that be worth do yall think?
