Dang, it seems as tho everyone is going the side exit exhaust... I sure hope nobody else does it, I wanted mine to be one of the few

Oh well, thats what mine is getting & if everybody wants to copy me, I guess I can handle that

Really sweet truck bro, cant wait to see it black :D

Re: Project. The most expensive and longest way possible to build a truck

update.. not goin too fast since this is my first time doing ANYTHING to a car/truck, (but havin fun learning).. i finished blocking the truck (the first time anyways) there are still a couple areas that need atten, but not bad. (one good thing about blocking a truck that had pretty good paint to start with).. since im painting it black, a plan to try to get it as straight as possible (i dont care how long it takes).. other than that, i started to take the front end apart, and am in the process of pulling the motor and going to re-build it, nothing major, but a few things to spice it up (my dad is going to help on that part since he has done it plenty of times b4) its kinda challenging trying to fig out how to get things apart with one set of hands (ie hood), but im sure everyone on here has dealt with that so no more cryin out of me lol :waah:

Re: Project. The most expensive and longest way possible to build a truck

so far all i know, is just honing, keeping the same bore but higher compression pistons, i bought a new edlebrock performer rpm air gap intake, it already has a new edlebrock carb, im going to do something with the heads (either new aluminum, or get the re-worked), cam, and i plan to get the sanderson bb8 headers off of film guy if he still has them, (he hasn't returned my pm yet)... lol i dont know too many details of specifics yet, but thats so far the plan.. tips anyone? i dont want this truck to be too extreme (dont plan to ever take it to the track), but, i want it to be able to move out of its own way, and still be able to call it a "Hotrod" ;)

if you got the money i think some aluminum heads would be ausome, if not definatly rework the old ones, are you going with a rolling cam setup

I'd go with aluminum heads and a hyd. roller cam. I put aluminum heads on my sbc and it woke it up quite a bit.

Re: Project. The most expensive and longest way possible to build a truck

daily update.. sorry for all the pics of little progress.. i just fig if i load them all there is no chance of me losing them again.. so today i pullded the engine.. as i said in the beginning, ive never done anything to a car/truck before... it was interesting getting that done by myself, i love the challange (fun stuff) as you can see, my tranny leaked a bit when i tipped it up. (i got a tip from my dad to plug it when i pull the drive shaft out.. I DID DAD. it just caught the tranny x-member when i was pulling the engine and it started to leak.. i caught it though lol) after that was done, i decided to pull the lowering blocks off the blue truck (i need them for my new frame setup) while i was doing that, i had a little play time (the wheels wont bolt up due to being a mII IFS but i wanted to see anyways).... ill get more done on sat. enjoy

Re: Project. The most expensive and longest way possible to build a truck

dang! got the motor sent off to the builder.. (that chit is expensive! lol) ohh well.. soo the plan is...

Bore to 406
roller cam
closed chamber heads (up the compression to 9.5/1)
crank worked
intake (edelbrock rpm dual plane)
keepin the edelbrock carb for now..(builder sug. holley, but we'll see how it runs b4 we go that road)
sanderson bb8 ceramic coated headers i picked up off film_guy

i think thats about it.. ohh and i guess im just gonna have him do it turn key.. was wanting to assemble with my dad, but ohh well..

gotta get the welder worked on.. (does anyone know how a welder would stop allowing the gas to come through?? yes the tank has plenty?!?)

Re: Project. The most expensive and longest way possible to build a truck

Update... Decided to scrap the 402.. (or give to my engine builder on trade) for a 454 bored .30 over, forged pistons,(10:1 compression) roller cam, roller rockers, eagle crank.... Est to push 550-600 HP. (quite a bit more than the orig plan, so should be fun) engine is suppose to be ready in a wk..
