What year did Chevy start putting 400's in the trucks? I thought they didn't start until like "73"?

Time really flies!!! I was finally able to hook up the water hose and wash it (ha-ha). So I thought I would show a full peek. One of the reasons It took so long to get some more pics was because I had the bed completely apart to change the floor and paint the inside of the bed thanks to the PO and his goose neck attachment.

OMG... what a beaut! Even ordered with shoulder belts, wow.
What are your plans for this one? |
Re: Sneak Peak……
Wow, that had to be one expensive truck back in the day. Simply amazing option list and condition. It's interesting the engine and transmission options are chalk marked on the firewall. I was not aware they did that at the factory.

Re: Sneak Peak……
wow, thanks for sharing the pics....cool truck!

Re: Sneak Peak……
Well I learned something new today. I've only seen the model number on the firewall(cexxxx), etc. Congrats on the truck and keep my in mind if it ever comes up for sale.

Re: Sneak Peak……
Nice truck! Did you do anything special to paint the inside of the bed to match the "age" of the original paint. I have a nice survivor that I want to paint the inside of the bed on too.
|
Re: Sneak Peak……
After we had the inside of the bed blasted with pecan shells,a local painter did it for me. He did a pretty good job considering the paint is 37+ years old and that the medium red has faded to almost hugger orange. If you look close at the truck, the paint is definitely showing its age with primer showing through on some edges and hood.
He used a single stage paint and I think started with med red and went from there, but I am not sure what he did to allow for the lost of the pigment. |
Re: Sneak Peak……
Jason, that was well worth the wait bud. Very nice find. If I ever make it down your way again, I will have to stop by and meet you and your dad for sure. Very, very sweet. Trevor

Re: Sneak Peak……
Trevor, if you ever do make it this direction, be sure and bring the swb 4x4... we would love to see it.
always appreciate you Paul and Jason |
Re: Sneak Peak……
Beautiful truck!
I noticed the drivers door window frame is painted white and the passenger door window frame is red. Or is it just the lighting of the picture that makes it look that way? |
