It has been a long time since I have seen a Franz filter. Too cool. As yes you CAN use a roll of TP in those filters, as long as it the rock hard sand paper kind of TP. Charmin will not work.

yeah, i heard you could use TP back in the day. i had a friend tell me the other day that the stuff now is too biodegradeable and wouldnt work. i did find filter kits in the Concourse catalog. i'll just get some of those. i would like to find a new outer chrome housing tho. this one is pitted, i could rechrome it but i'd lose the Franz sticker. this friend of mine has some sweet cars too. a '64 malibu 2 door rag top that looks like he just drove it off the show room floor. a '49 packard, and a cherry '72 buick electra rag top.............:smoke:

what if you found a suitable size Fram filter and cut it open to get the element out of it? that way you could keep the patina look and still have modern filtration? the flip side would be if you restoring it, get someone to make the stickers and then get it rechromed. hell with my nova i was lucky enough to score some original 60's license plates and even the registration stickers that went on the window. the stickers were repoped for movie props but i bought the remainders so my car will be rocking vintage plates, stickers and even the license plate frame.

A Franz filter will not give you modern filtration. The Franz is a bypass filter. Only some of the oil is filtered at any time and over time, all of the oil is filtered.

The boys I ran with used Amsoil and never changed their oil. Every 3k, they replaced the Franz filter and added a quart. Right or wrong, those fellows never lost an engine due to oiling issues.

hehehe i see i'm not the only one that bleeds in my shop. the worst i had was when a tin snips that fell off my bench got kicked up by my slippers when i ran for the phone. it hit the back of my leg by my Achilles and butterflied the skin. I realized that there was something sticky on my foot and looked down. told my friend "ima have to call u back, i sliced open my leg". trying to get my leg to stop bleeding my mom comes out and asks me if i needed anything. told her "probably gonna have to go to the ER, but i have the power steering pump out of my truck. gotta get it back together before i can go. got any gauze?" she comes out with a MAXI PAD..... i was like WTF? then i thought well it's super absorbent. told her to grab my duct tape, taped it on, got the truck together and went to the ER. the doctors couldn't stop laughing at me. then the bastards decided to GLUE my leg back together. my friggin cut was superglued back together.... and ever since i keep superglue close by :D
