I paid 1750 for mine and drove it home. looked great at the time of purchase but it soon got worse. paint started to peel and got little rust bubbles under it. the box was rusting from the inside out. that's what prompted the new box and a complete frame off resto.

well i'm new here but i thought this would be a good topic to chime in on i'm currently lookin at two trucks a 1972 with a straight body and a fairly solid suspension when this truck was all fixed it layed a 75ft patch without the driver even trying the other i'm looking at is in manhattan and is a 1970 swb with a 4spd 350 combo with a little rust on the rocker panels and cab corners but the rest is straight the guy wants 1226 so depending on the price of the other i may get the 1970 this weekend http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Truckboy 04-30-2002 07:59 PM

Paid $400 for the 70 1/2 ton. Has a 327 a bit of rust but runs good (well). Drive it almost everyday. I got the '72 3/4 ton as part of a package deal. Two non-running trucks for 300 bucks.Sold one for 250.00. Need to get a tranny in it though.

I paid $150.00 for a 1972 c20 and 1800 for a 69 c10 Stepside, 1972 k10 complete running gear, and a turbo 400 with 3/4 ton axles out of a 79 blazer. Now I am looking at a 72 k20 with 1 ton axles under it for 1800.00. Once I bought one, I cannot stop now.

jeff69cst/10 04-30-2002 08:24 PM

I paid $175.00 for my 69 a year ago, drove it every day till I had to put a new motor in it last week.
It's a one owner truck till I bought it.
It was all original till it spun a rod bearing.

Paid $950 for mine in June of 1992, (Yikes! ten years allready). It was running, drove it home but, had more rust than I cared to have, found this out when I began tearing it down, now ten years later, it has again, more rust than I care to have. I'm still picking up parts and prepping/chopping another cab for it (soon I hope!) So far I have purchased a cowl induction hood, inner front fenders, front roll pan, rear step fenders, rear steps and ZR rear roll pan/lights all in fiberglass. Also have new tailgate (plain) with chains and a tailgate skin (with large bowtie), one piece ventless window kit, all the glass gaskets, dash pad (black), new 70 grille, outside door handles, body mount rubber kit, rear gas tank kit and a good used tilt wheel column. Once the cab is ready I will tear down and rebuild.

I am on the high side, at $6,500 Canadian for my 67 GMC short fleet. It was a previous restoration. I have reworked it extensively since, and it is appraised and insured at $15,000 Canadian now.

chucks70 04-30-2002 08:55 PM

Paid $2000 for mine. 3/4 ton,4wd, 350, 4:10 posi with extra reg. gear set. Bed has a few dents, front fenders need front lower redone, corners replaced, rockers replaced but PO filled in the groove between it and the floor board with braze. Doors were hacked off at vent pillar and window edge then rewelded for some reason. Probably paid too much, but not many around here. Got about $200 in converting to front discs and another $200 in a rear brake drum and new spring kit and shoes. It's 5 different colors and my wife calls it my Jed Clampet mobile.

Paid 4500 for mine. A little high judging by everybody else, but I'm happy. Needs a little body work, and interior. I was more than happy since it had power front disc brakes, power steering, and the complete A/C setup. Now if only it would stop burning so much oil http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

I painted my grandma's house for mine. It ended up taking much longer than originally planned. Here's what I've done so far: FIRST took the topper off! SECOND replaced the clutch. THIRD tightened up the steering after almost killing myself. FOURTH put on mag wheels so I could be seen in it. FIFTH put in strong 305 (originally told it was a 350HO) and 700R4. SIXTH work on interior and paint. SEVENTH add hot 400sb (blown?). EIGHTH never sell.
I'm only on number 6. Can't wait til 7.
I'll try to post some pictures if I can figure it out some time.

my first 67-72 truck???
I traded a 73 RUSTY chevy longbox and $150.
for my first truck. A 67 ShortWide box it was Red with Red interior, 283/P'Glide 2bbl I remember it had a dark blue passenger side door panel (hehehe) AM only radio, metal floor bed, small window, seat folded forward, and no P/S,no P/B...it was soooo cool.... back in '88 when I was 19yrs old, NOW 14 years later, I'm building a 67 ShortWide box Red with Red interior,CST buckets,350/TH350, A/C, P/S, P/B, and AM only radio....
I guess I should have just kept the first truck I had, and saved alot of time...

Paid $ 275.50 for my 68 LWB w/ Wood Floor, had no engine and had a TH400 sitting in the Bed.. I built a 350 w/ 350 HP and put in a better stereo system, blew my TH400 Tranny that I originally put in w/ 350, 2 days after building the engine and put in 400 Tranny that was in bed and still is running. I need to re-start Body Work and get rid of Rusy on Passenger Cab Roof (above drip rails), Both Inner and Outter Rocker Panels and some Floor Repair on both Drivers and Passenger Side, replace both Front Fenders and Doors, Fix Rust above Windsheild passenger side, this is the Longterm w/ Frame Swap to SWB and Disc Brakes all around and OD Tranny.. Short Term Work is to Replace Master Cylinder tomorrow (I lost Brakes This evening!) and buy new wheels and paint the whole truck and then it will look a hell of a lot better!!
