See posts 24 and 25 regarding the cost in parts.
No, its not motorized. I have been thinking of ways to motorize it, but haven't figured out a way to do it yet. The stock radio hooks up to the carportal head unit underneath the seat. You simply hook the speaker out wire from the stock radio to the speaker inputs. Being a mono output radio, the wire needs to be split for to the left and right channel inputs. If you want to listen to the AM radio, you just hit the "factory" button on the LCD screen. You can then slide in the LCD screen and use the factory radio like normal. |
Re: Ashtray slide out LCD screen

Here are the detailed pictures for the rail car and hinge assembly.
(1st picture) The construction post is attached with the flat side down onto the rail carrier on the right most hole of the post. The construction post isn't long enough by itself, so the 3/4" post is screwed on to the end of the construction post with a 1/4-20 stud. (3rd picture) Onto the 3/4" post, a post end clamp is then attached using a spring thumbscrew. The post clamp comes with a set screw, but the spring thumb screw allows for easier adjustment since it will place constant tension on the post. The standard set screw will work though. Next, cut the 1.5" post to 3/4". The reason for duing this is that there is hole drilled through the cross section of the stock 3/4" post. This will interfere with the second spring thumbscrew as the spring point will fall into this hole as the screen pivots. Attach the cut 3/4" post to the threaded end of the post end clamp as seen in the 3rd picture. More to come... |
