Re: 60-66 full body wiring

It should work on just about any truck if you really think about. But it was tailored for 60-66 gm trucks.

Looking for some help!

I have a 64 C20 with rear light issues. I have turn signals but no brakes, running lights. Also, I have no interior dome light, but gas indicator works. I have replaced just about everything with no luck. Starting at the back, new bulbs, new wiring harness all the way to the front, new brake light switch, new dome light and wiring, new director signal connector in the steering wheel. The onyl place I can see on the wiring diagram where dome light and rear lights meet is in the light switch connector. I am not sure what/where that is or even what it looks like????? Anyone out there got any ideas? I am stumped!!

THANKS

replace your light switch

I'm not sure but the gauges vs the tell tale lights are different wire diagrams

Attached are some 1964 Chevy C-K 10-20 wiring diagrams I did. There a CAD file in .dwg format (in the zip file) and the same thing as a four page pdf file. Air conditioning is included as page four.

Mostly it's redrawn from the stock diagrams in the 1964 shop manual supplement. The fuse panel internal connections are shown accurately, I traced the circuits in mine. I left out devices that are not on a C-K 10-20.

If you play with the cad file it's saved as an autocad 2000 file. Each wire color is on its own layer. There is one layer on which I put all the devices that the wiring connects to. Depending on the cad program you use, you might have to play with layer colors to get a decent color print.

(I'm putting my 64 back on the road and am fixing up a lot of wiring sins I created twenty years ago. I wanted a decent wiring diagram so I decided to redraw the originals into cad format so I could edit them. The diagram for my truck is eight pages with four more pages for the stuff I have added.)

Hope this helps someone...

Re: 60-66 full body wiring

New here and to the c/10 world, so sorry for dumb question, but I noticed a puff of smoke come from under the dash a couple days ago, and jiggling the wires behind the ignition switch shuts the engine off. The truck was re-wired by a shop before I bought it. I don't know what kit they used. It looks like some wires are getting hot back there (I have reached down and touched them, and the area where they attach to the harness behind the ignition switch shows plastic is melted a little). I feel like I could label, then pull wires and fix loose connections, but I don't want to mess anything up. I also will need a new harness for the back of the ignition switch. Any thoughts on how I should approach this? How should I go about buying a harness without knowing the type of wiring kit used? The ignition switch itself looks like the original. Thanks!

1966 c/10

I would start a new thread to get some answers since this may be too hidden using the tail end of another's thread.

Is it just me, or do none of these wiring diagrams show the heater switch, heater resistor circuit and blower? Or did they use fire to heat their trucks back then?

Re: 60-66 full body wiring

It's my understanding that heaters have their own standalone wiring harness.

My heater only has 1 wire from switch to fan
Mine is base stock and has a 3 speed

I can take a look and let u know the wiring
