I got some answeres, as far as a lift, what i was told had to be done was to convert to 73-82 i believe front control arms, spindles, linkage ect. . . and then buy a lift for that year. i might be off on the year but ill research my past posts around here and ill try to find out for sure.

the 71 and 72 3/4 and 1 ton susp are the same as the 73-87 3/4 and 1 ton susp. you don't have to change anything. The only "suspension" lift on the market is the Fabtech kit for the 1/2 ton 73-87 truck.

The fabtech 73-87 1/2 ton lift kits can be adapted to the 3/4 ton. you will need to replace the ball joints in the kit with 3/4 ton ball joints.

Good luck finding a kit. . There impossible to come by and a few grand if you do catch one. . . it was the 88-98 spindle option that some were saying would work, just gotta change the ball joints and then you can do a spindle lift. Also here is a kit made for our trucks its just not high enough for what im wanting. but heres the link in case any of you want it.

after reading all the links on this site, its still not clear as to what to use to lift a 87 suburban 1/2 ton 5 lug.

from what i gather, i need 4" lift spindles, 88-98, 3/4 ton lower a arms,(year)
and what ball joints do i need to buy ? (year)

thanks

My step Dad owns an autoparts store that I work at. Sometime this week, I will go through the parts books and see if I can find something that will work. I have a feeling that the ball joints and tie rods won't be an issue, but the brakes could be. I'll check back with the info that i gather.

Re: 2wd lift kit

You can use 73-87 lift spindles and or a fab tech kit "but they sag so you won't get as much lift as claimed by the kit.

Orry I guess I should read. The topic has changed it seems since I last posted. On the newer trucks they make different kits I think. But I did figure out how to lift a classic 2wd

Re: 2wd lift kit

Ok i'm gonna let the rest of u boys figure out the frontend but in my mind the best solution for the rear is to find a donor truck with a leafsprung rearend and convert ur truck to leafsprings and get a liftkit for 4x4 67-72
