I got some Reflectix double sided aluminum insulation
http://www.lowes.com/pd_13357-56291-BP24025_0__ And used some 3M adhesive spray behind it to fill in the inner side walls and then used aluminum tape to seal the fatmat and reflectix. it filled in very nicely. cut easy. and well see how it works out (other members have had success). just need some jute mat now to make the carpet a little plush. This has been a huge process of tear down, sanding, grinding, painting, rolling on fatmat, and now installing the reflectix. Takes time and dilligence IMHO. I hope it was all worth it in the long run, its my first go at this. i think im in about $350 and still not done. POR-15, 1 pint - $40 Fatmat 50sq ft. - $90 Aluminum tape 1 roll - $5 New carpet my dad had - $60 worth New Amp - $120 Seam sealer - $20 New carriage bolts for wheel well - $ 15 My time - $Priceless  |
Re: Not just a truck to me
Any Ideas for carpet hold down strips? other then the ridiculously hard original ones to find that i pried up with a screw driver, folded them in half and threw in the trash :waah: :help: (Fools errand on my part to rid of those so easily).

A few pics of my updated interior. I changed the 96 grey cloth Tahoe seats with 99 tan suburban leather that is full power with heated seats that work. I personally think the tan leather compliments the medium gold paint well. i used the third row seat and adapted my own bracket from the old back seat on page 1 and not only does it fold down but it slides forward and back as well. I even managed to adapt the original blazer seat belts to the rear seat. I still need to develop some kind of tailgate carpet weatherstripping seal and then Enjoy the free road :metal::chevy:

Finally finished the mounting of the 2 front seats. they needed new holes and mounting plates for the back holes. Gave her a well deserved bath and polished up her shoes. Some pics.

I decided to add some color to the Chevrolet letters in the middle of the front grill. I painted them a darker red instead of the traditional black...I think it adds a custom touch of elegance that compliments the blazer well IMO. Let me know what you others members think
