While looking for patch panels to fix the marker holes on the 67 swb stepside bed, I came across a 68 lwb stepside bed, radiator suport, front fenders and bumper REALLY cheap. I already have a 68 hood and grill and know where there is a decent 68 cab... next project???

The 67 rear fenders are for sale. Please respond to the ad in the parts forum.

Since I could not sell the fleetside tailgate, I pulled the bent up tailgate band and mounted the gate on the truck. Big improvement. Now I wish I had kept the fleetside sport bumper I just sold...

Hey if you ever want to sell this cab let me know. You don't happen to have a cab laying around that has a good roof but a junk floor do you? I need the top roof panel a cab without clearance lights

I don't plan to let this cab go any time soon, as it a numbers matching big block with title, I don't think many would want to give what I think it is worth. I don't have any junk cabs, I let a rusty cab go with a lwb 4x4 frame a few yrs ago. The floor was gone and possibly inner roof. If I recall, the buyer was from Houston. I don't recall if he was on this forum or not. You are welcome to check my old threads and see if you can find contact info.

My brother brought the 71 lwb 1/2 ton chassis from Ft Worth a few weeks back. I am going to wait til it cools off, and I get my tractor with front end loader out of the shop to swap the disc brake front sub frame and 5 lug rear axle onto the 69 swb frame. :metal:

My dad came up yesterday and today we got the front suspension crossmembers pulled out of the 72 lwb chassis and 68 swb chassis. The 71disc brake set up is going to go under the 68 swb frame, but I am going to clean it up some first.

Re: Picked up a 70 Longhorn w/ a 396/ TH400 and a NICE rust free cab!

Today I got the 71 disc front crossmember under the 69 swb frame and stabbed a few bolts in it. I also pulled the cover on the 71 5 lug rear that is still under the lwb frame and it is a 3.73 open axle. There was a lot of sludge when I pulled the pan. I plan to install new seals and bearings but I hope the axles aren't ruined! I also am piecing together a swb stepside for the truck. I have a nice pair of fenders on a 68 lwb stepside bed. I flipped the bed over and sprayed all of the bolts attaching the fenders to the bed with penetrating oil, but I am going to heat all of the bolts with a torch in order to get them off easier. I will also be pulling the rear crossmember and possibly the front bed panel from the 68 LWS stepside bed. The only thing I am using off the 67 swb stepside bed is the steps. I have a set of really nice 55-66 bed sides. I compared them to the 67 bed sides and they are identical except for the location of the fender attachment hole. I plan to take measurements from the 67 bed and drill new holes in the 55-66 bedsides to attach the fenders from the 68 bed. Then weld up the old holes. WHEW!!!

I have also been accumulating parts, such as the correct 7040206 carb, a pair of nice aqua sun visors and a nice rubber floor mat. I also picked up a pair of 15 x 8 rallys and tires for $40 on the local C-LIST to go with the pair I already have. I am still in need of a stepside chrome sport rear bumper.

We sold the 72 GMC swb stepside 6 cyl 3 ott as is so I will be continuing with this project. I got the 5 lug 3.73 rear axle pulled out of the donor 71 lwb rear axle and power washed the 69 swb frame. I plan to use rust bullet, no sand blasting.

I actually found a good pair on the parts board! You have to keep your eyes open though as it's a hard color to find.

Would you happen to need visors and or retainer clips? I have nice pair of aqua visors with one that need stitching and 2 pairs of aqua visor clips.

Hopefully I will find some. For some reason someone sawed the bolts off, so... I haven't even attempted to get whats left out of the bolt holes yet. Ugh...

Thanks, but the visors and clips are actually in pretty good shape in my truck. That's about it though.

i love Green trucks reminds me of the CDF forestry back in the 1970's.the name Plateon your truck states its a 400 Now i know when GM was putting 396 in the trucks they would use the 396 name plate the 402 was for the 400 name plate even tho yours is a 1969 mabey early 1970 you might have the 402 engine its the same engine but 30 over But nice truck

Not much progress lately, but i have been collecting parts. Picked up a complete 68-72 swb step bed with tailgate for $100 (!) 1/2 ton power brake setup from teeitup and some 70 style round outside mirrors.

Not much to report on this project. I almost have my 72 stepside done. Finishing up the vintage air install and enjoying cruising it.

I have also been working on my 79 malibu i have owned since 97. Its got a 468 bbc, 2004r and an 8.5" 3.73 posi out of a hurst olds. I picked up some 17x8 alloys with 255/50/17 tires on c list a while back for it, but they were on an s10 4x4 and are too wide in front due to my ca being lowered 2" all around. I want to keep that stance. I have another set of 255/55r17 tires and i am trying to source some reasonably priced 17x7 wheels. I will keep the 255/50r17 tires for my 91 olds wagon which has 17" impala ss wheels, but probably sell the 17x8 wheels.

Yea, I guess I do. If you would take a closer look, you will notice that the cinder blocks are not the only method used to support the truck. They are only secondary. If you have a suggestion, I would suggest you make it, not leave a passive/agressive, condescending remark.
