Re: MIP Vinyl Full Floor Mat
Thanks for the info on your install. My son and I are working on a 66 stepside GMC as the first project for both of us. We are having problems getting it to roll out flat on the fire wall above the center hump over the transmission. Did you end up with some cuts in matt just to get it to lay flat?

Re: MIP Vinyl Full Floor Mat
There was a lot of excess on the firewall, it was problematic but it laid flat. I took other members advice and laid it in the sun all day to get the material more pliable. Hope that helps.

Re: MIP Vinyl Full Floor Mat
I didn't make any cuts or "darts" in the mat anywhere to get it to lay flat, but I did cut off a sizeable chunk at the top front of the mat (like maybe 6 or more inches). I believe the cut line shows up best in the 2nd & 3rd photos below. There was much more material above this point before it was sliced off. Even where I cut was several inches above the factory mat, so there's a lot of flexibility depending on if you're using a factory firewall pad or not.
Here's what the mat looked like when first spread out in the cab: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/850/dwp1.jpg Here's the cut when first installed. I liked the way it almost looked like a factory curl or bead: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/855/5rmh4.jpg And here's what it looks like today: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/840/n4ux.jpg Previously I had a diamond tufted pad covering this section, but I came to prefer it the way it looks today. For comparison, here's how far up the firewall a factory mat extends: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/842/slnii.jpg |

Nicely done!!!

Re: MIP Vinyl Full Floor Mat
If you do not run the door sill plates, is there enough on the sides to tuck down between the lip of the outer rocker and the dead space of the inner rocker?

Re: MIP Vinyl Full Floor Mat
Best I remember the width of the unaltered mat extends out the doors far enough to cover the rocker sills. But this stuff is so thick and stiff it would be very difficult to "tuck in" anyplace and expect it to stay there without something to hold it down (like the rocker sill). It's nothing like a conventional rubber floor mat.

How are these holding up over the years?

Re: MIP Vinyl Full Floor Mat
That looks fantastic Mark, great job. I am thinking of using that in my 64 panel. Is it long enough to go all the way under the seat to the back wall?
