Thanks Jim, can't wait to start my thread on the 49 too. Camaro stub, homebuilt radius arm independent rear susp, 55 Chevy truck dash (wraps into doors), LS1, etc. I'm in WAY over my head! Hoping to have this one done for Truck Nats next year.

Thanks Blue Bomber. it has been slowly progressing. Chris doesn't have as much time as I do, and wants to be there helping with the work. It drove under it's own power for the first time since 1971 last Saturday!

Alright Elco.... the 49's got a LONG ways to go, but I'll work up a thread for what I've done so far. Check for it in my signature.

Got a little work done on the '33 today... Chris decided he wants to mix new wood with some steel to give it a little more structural support. 1st pic is of the dry-rotted stock wood along the back of the cab. 2nd is the new 1x2 1/8" wall square tube structure we built. Much more solid!

Here's pics of the finished (and fully functional) pedal assembly. The frame bracket is a highly modified '53 chevy piece. The actual pedals are original to the '33.

Thanks Jim,

Not too much done today. just some little things. built a new batt. box, and replaced the back wall of the bed. The old one was a tad rusty. The new one is a 1950 Chevy piece that we narrowed 4". The tailgate is from a '37 Chevy (Jim Carters repro, but 2nds). Fit the 4" narrowed box perfectly! And, I love the cursive Chevrolet script!

Small update on this one.

Chris decided against the drop axle, and we're gonna just pull some leaves out of the front spring pack. Going down to 18" tires, it ought to give us about 4 inches of drop. Not quite the 8" I would have liked to see, but it's not my truck.

Spend the last several days wrestling with kingpins. Here's the 53 Chevy 3/4 ton axle we intend to put under the truck. New kingpins, brakes, hardware, etc. We rebuilt the wheel cylinders also, So it will stop with fluid instead of friction. He also picked up some 80's dodge dually front adaptors, so we can keep the cool wheels. Hoping to get this axle under the truck this weekend.

Here's some updates for this project. I saved the batt box opening from my 49 project to integrate into the 33's floor. We also got the front axle almost finished up (need some shorter U-bolts). Wound up pulling 5 leaves out of the front spring packs. Should be a total drop of around 4-4.5" once we account for the vehicle weight on the springs. Here's the pics.

Here's the last few. I think the wider spacers look great, and I can't wait to see it on the ground tomorrow!

Thanks Jim. Got some more done today. truck is on the ground with the new axle under it. Wound up losing about 5.5" of ride height with the new setup.
I think it looks kinda butch with the new stance in the nose. We also put the freshly cleaned tank in and ran the fuel line, so no more nurse tank required.

Next time we get it in the shop we'll pull a bunch of springs out of the rear packs to drop them down as well.
