Well quite a bit has happened over the last couple of months, mainly the truck has been stripped and sent out for blasting, and the chassis arrived a few weeks back. I've been holding off on posting any more until the build really gets underway. I'm hoping to get things moving around mid-April.

Perhaps until then I'll throw up a few photos from over the winter.

I spent most of December stripping down the truck and bagging everything up. Once it was gutted I towed it up to Sacramento to get blasted and primed.

It left as a rolling hulk...

...and came back squished into a Uhaul

Both the cab and bed were as clean as I was hoping for. Only some minor pinhole rust through the firewall. Front panel on the bed is trashed so we're just going to replace it.

While doing the teardown I realized the doors that came on the truck are the newer ones which accept the full width door panels. I really want the period style so it was a chore to find clean 73-76 small inner panel doors, but after a month of calls and searching I found both driver and passenger doors.

Wes @ One Off Customs in Santa Clara, CA.

He's got a wild Camaro project finishing up right now before we can really get started on the truck. I'm hoping for April :)

Re: Project Cannonball C10

Having this time has given me a chance to find/paint/rebuild a bunch of stuff...

Grabbed a non-column shift steering column out of a '76 on Thanksgiving day for $20.

http://i782.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps868df6df.jpg

Pulled the whole column apart, sanded and sprayed it in semi-gloss black, put in fresh bearings and fitted with new ignition/turn signal switches. Also topped it with a "GM Comfort Grip" wheel in 14" diameter. I took a guess on the size, which matches the diameter in my M3.

I put in a Dakota Digital turn signal lever with 4 wire cruise control (HND-3). This lever really looks like it came with the truck, but I'll be able to wire it into the ECU for modern cruise control.

Over the holiday break I rebuilt the vent window assemblies. What a nightmare project that was! Funny thing is I have no photos from any of that...guess I didn't want to remember.

I also ordered a bunch of Eastwood paint supplies and freshened up lots of the small parts. Turn signal/parking light housings

And, of course, the delivery guys have been showing up a lot lately

Vintage Air Gen IV

Totally Stainless Bolt Kit

A giant box with a reproduction hood that I'm not going to use now

An E-Stopp parking brake kit. I didn't want to try hooking the ebrake pedal up to the Wilwood setup, and I'll hide the button on this kit for a bit of theft deterrence.

Looking good Mike! This is going to be unreal when it gets together. Digging the Mini, too.

Re: Project Cannonball C10

Thanks guys. Its coming together one part at a time. I'm trying to do something every day on it, big or small. This morning was sanding and spraying the rear window channels inside the doors. Last week I was focused on wiring, and put together my own headlight relay upgrade integrated into the factory style forward lamp harness.

BTW, after many months of waiting, all my wiring harnesses showed up from M&H Electric. They turned out awesome! They did such an exact job of matching the factory colors and plugs. I went with their classic auto fuse series which comes with an ATO style fuse block and some extra circuits for electric fans and fuel pumps. I highly recommend their setup for anybody doing a restoration on one of these trucks.

Another photo I found on my phone. Looks better with both C5 vette wheels :)

And here's the tires that we are hoping to tuck under all four corners  Should be a bit like a go-kart with this rubber on it.
