Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Popped in to Martins place on the way home to drop of some storage solutions for him and to collect the 4 ton bottle jack I bought for my truck, as it has no jack.

While chattin, he mentioned that he would like to include the carport we built for his truck into his thread.

So I will post it here, copied directly from my thread.

In other news, I went over to help mate Martin to put up a car port frame yesterday, started at 0,5'C at 08.00 and turned into a good day.

We ended up working till about 19.00 which was about 2 plus hours after dark and then I went back today to help him get the roof on as well.

Bunch of pics of the process.

Front corner post was actually correct.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psef5973eb.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7c3ea3f4.jpg

After dark we carried on with the neighbours spotlight

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psb58d26f8.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pse628c29c.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps59afb9fd.jpg

Today we got half the roof on when rain stopped safe play.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps704c5b3e.jpg

Of course the whole motivation for this roof build is so that Martin can work under some cover over winter prepping his truck.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps2243b540.jpg

And that pretty much brought another weekend to an end.

Shortly after that......:ennyd:

I was up early to get over to Martins today with the truck, to get a 4x8 sheet of MDF and my tall ladder to his place so that we could complete the rest of the carport roof for his truck resto.

It was really great to get the truck back on the road again, its been some time.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps1ee75518.jpg

Martin's truck earning its keep.

We were done with the roof after dark, and by 5pm I was on the road home again.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps0e61bca3.jpg

Every time I drive my truck it leaves a HUGE SMILE on my face.

The cost of fueling it up, disappears with the sound of that V8 rolling down the road.

Looking forward to the new year and getting the body and paint sorted.

Welcome aboard Martin, I too have read about some of your stuff on Grizz's thread. Looks like there's a few of us Brit C10 owners now..... They're getting more n more popular as well. Keep us posted, I know you will as Rian wont let you shirk off! ;)

I have an ex USAF short stepside, original dark blue paint and markings, that sits on airbags all round and chrome smoothies. Thats about the only mods, other than painting the interior and retrimming the seat that have done to mine. Sorry to hijack. As you were, and I look forward to seeing the build progress.

Hey Adrian, sitting in a concert hall filled with bearded men and women with hairy armpits and moustaches.

Not quite the answer to your question, but I started this thread over on R&S the last few days. May partly answer your question.

Hi Rian, Happy New Year to you and yours too sir. :)

I won't add a picture as I don't want to hijack Martin's thread, but there is a link to my trucks life in my signature if he wants to check it out. :)

Ad, there are a few of us about, hell there is even a long fleet side, BBW truck a 5 min walk from where I live! There are plenty more being imported as well, there are usually a couple on 'our' eGhay every couple of weeks or so.....

Are you doing a full body off resto?

mjh1965 01-17-2014 06:04 PM

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Yes Adrain that's my plan .
I've just won a bonnet (hood ) for you Americans on eBay . New front fenders and front bumper from brothers in the states ordered . Rian has ordered his fender repair panels as well as my cab corners
I guess you have seen all the other parts I brought back from the states on this thread. When I have all the parts I will start the strip down . The trouble is I enjoy driving it so taking off the road will be hard

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

It will definitely help having the parts ready before you start.
Well at least you will have motivation to get stuck in and get it finished so you can drive it again.

I have a MK2 Escort I'm restoring, but its been dragging on about 9 years now. Keep loosing interest. Really need to crack on with it. Trouble is each time I change one of my cars the escort ends up being forgotten about.

Sell the 'scort

Send me the money.

Martin has some cars to sell as well, he should move on the MX5 and use the money for spares.
