Re: 72 Cummins swap
Hey Thanks for the Pictures!
Mine is a 2WD and will use a slightly different configuration, but I will be getting a hold of AutoWorld in the morning to order my set! I have used their mounts quite a few times in three Super Duty conversions and a mid 80's Chevy 4x4 cummins conversion! Great products with friendly and fast service! AutoWorld is #1 in my book I need to have the Admin move my build from the 67-72 section to the Diesel Conversion section! Keep up the great work!:metal::metal: |
Re: 72 Cummins swap
I moved my tank to the rear for the purposes of being able to fit a sub behind the seats. And every inch of added storage space is a positive in these small single cabs. Unfortunately, ive found that the un-muffled drone of the cummins engine basically overpowers my stereo at cruising speeds.
Mine has the 31 gallon tank from a 1985 blazer, but i am considering swapping it for the 25gal just to save the few inches of vertical clearance... |
Re: 72 Cummins swap
Very cool build. I am using fuel cell sitting in the bed of my truck. Might not be perfect for if you want to use your bed but would give you plenty of room for your exhaust. Good luck on your build

Re: 72 Cummins swap
Well I got my engine mounts from Auto World the other day and what a great fit and finish! Now to move on to my Rusty Rocker panels !
A mid 70's Blazer gas tank is going in the back between the frame rails for my tank problem ! Sorry about the hi jack! Hows your project coming along? |

Any updates? Very nice build! Also do you have any pictures of hood latch support mods and radiator support mods to run the second gen Intercooler?

Finally got back to this project this past weekend. Still working on the cab. Cutting out the rust and welding in new panels. Been busy stocking the freezer with salmon. Did get some time to get these. Figuring on mounting them in the pillar.

Re: 72 Cummins swap
Nice gauges. Salmon huh, what river do you get them out of? That sure sounds good to have in the ol freezer.

74 nova. 425 + HP 383 SB. Ended up with a free car and had to build a cool engine for it. Its funny how a free project ends up costing a small fortune. Humm... Head scratcher.

Re: 72 Cummins swap
Very nice! I hear that on the free car costing a fortune!

Re: 72 Cummins swap
Dewey72 any updates? Lookin good. What radiator hoses did you go with? My nextt project is getting cooling system squared away.
Thanks |
Re: 72 Cummins swap
Got the cab and doors all blocked out and almost ready for the paint booth just need one more final sand when I can find time. The upper radiator hoes was the 93 dodge hose with a bushing on the radiator and cut and extended in the middle and the lower hose was a John Deere hose off a tractor. Cant remember what one. I have it wrote down in my notes somewhere if interested.

Figured I would give a update. Paint is about done and still fitting body panels. Looking for a outer grill. Got the air filter and exhaust on. Also looking for wheels and tires. Will 35"s fit with only a 4" lift? Slowly making some progress. Attachment 1757658

Re: 72 Cummins swap
That is looking great! I've seen a lot of pics with 4" lifts and 35s on these. I'd give it a try. You're just 2 pairs of zero rates away if you need an inch extra lift if they don't.

[size=1]Posted via Mobile Device[/size Final got to drive it a bit. Ran strong. Went to move it the next day and the thing wanted to go to high isle at start. Tried about a dozen times. Ended up pulling the darn pump off.
