Thankyou for the welcome :)

Yup the side mount is being kept, not sure if i will refit the bracket as yet...some folk wanted me to change the rear dimple wing(fender) but that is staying.

Jeff

Of some guys would drill holes in the metal so the plastic would squeeze thru and grab better, old school stuff did not alway stick like modern, especailly if the metal was rusty.

Smart move starting with a Calif. truck! Sorry, Tito's Vodka drinker here, but y'all go on ahead. It's always neat to see how things are done in other places, looks like your mates are doing you a good job.

We have a friend here in KC that was a London Cabbie for 30 yrs. It blows him away how we just tear into stuff at the house.

i will let you off on the vodka bit:lol:

Ive been drawn in hook line and sinker now with these lovely ol trucks....so much so i am looking to get another, which will be fun getting it to me up here in Scotland !!!

Im used to ripping stuff apart as ive been into aircooled VW's for the past 20 odd years, but,i was getting a bit stale with them so i sold my 67 split panel,my 56 oval and as soon as a magazine possibly does a photo shoot my karmann ghia will be going too....ironically the ghia is an ex San Francisco car...

i on a massive learning curve but its something that i gotta do.....except the next truck i get,i will be doing it myself....

A question for you good folk over there in the States.....is there any way i could find out history on my truck?......obviously ive the chassis number and the reg plates...over here we can apply to our vehicle licensing folk and they will send you the vehicle details for a small fee.....just wondered if there was a similar thing in the U.S ?

As a general rule, not so much. I can only speak for Missouri. I know in CA you used to be able to get some info. PM Kabwe or Dan in Pasadena for a start on that kinda thing.

Again, props to you for even taking it on, I know there ain't nothin' cheap about this kinda thing in the UK. She's gonna be a pretty girl!

Pricewise we get REALLY hammered here....customs and her majesty's tax men take their chunk out of us on stuff brought in.....a rule of thumb is...swap your dollar sign for our pound sign......it hurts big time at times....
im luck in one respect as ive found a parts place down in England who has been good to me....cheap for over here but still a lot more than you guys pay over there...

hopefully the next truck i go for will have more of the nice parts on it already...

Just wish i could pay in Whisky:lol:

Heater/Heating....

do any of you good folks out there know of where i can order a complete heater for my truck?
She arrived in the UK with NO heating or heating controls what so ever..

And of a website that will show me how it all plumbs in?

I can use a classic mini heater/matrix but dont know how it all plumbs in or where the hoses would go...

any help greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance

Mario

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window

No body repops them. If you do not want stock any small box heater will work, the core is only about 10 x 6 x 2 inches. The original had an internal cable operated valve that regulated the hot water from the water pump or block. When mine went bad I just replaced the valve with a nipple and used an inline valve in the rubber line. Since our seasons tend to change quickly I did not even bother hooking it up to a cable, just lifted the hood twice a year to turn it off or on. With a little cable work you could get it to work with the original deluxe control if you have it. Deluxe fan switch is electric so that will work too. Vintage Air, etc. do make heat only units too.
