Got the motor and tranny dropped in and tuned. It came out looking better than I thought it would. I also went ahead and took the old heater box and out and made some temporary panels at work to cover the holes.

I cleaned up under the hood also with a wire wheel and primed and painted it with a satin black to give it a cleaner look

I figured the wheels needed a little change up so I got some wider white walls and painted the wheels black but I could decide whether or not to use the center caps or not so I just left them off for now.

The truck is running really good right now. I drove it to a show in Victoria, Texas which was around 200 miles round trip and it performed flawlessly. The overdrive is really worth it I went from running at around 3600 rpm to 2300 at 70mph. The highest my engine temp was 170f and my transmission was running at 175f so I'm pretty satisfied with the conversion. I'm still planning on installing an Aux cooler for the transmission just to get the temp down a little more.

Wow, you've done a lot to it since I've seen you last. I bet that 700R4 is awesome. Wish I could have made it to Victoria.

It was probably the best show I've been to this year besides the Villains show. I need to get with you about the air ride components. I started doing a lot of research already about what to get and what stance I'm going for but I want to go take a look at your truck to get a feel for it. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with a PB stage1 kit up front but I'm not sure about the rear. I want it to sit as low as it can but still run my inner fenders up front. I found these threads to go off but I need a little more info.

Your truck looks and sits good Mike. It reminds me of my 69 step when i bought it. I wish I had left the old green paint instead rushing to get in primer.

Thank you ... yeah I want to enjoy the patina look for a while before I start digging into the body work.

You have my number, and I don't live too far from your dad. I do think it's worth pointing out that I didn't use the stock lower control arms. I have the Porterbuilt 1" forward series lowers with factory uppers. Made the bag mounting very simple. With the research we both did, I'm sure you can come up with a good plan to use the factory lowers if you want.

Nice looking truck. Smart decision to let the truck start making some smiles and memories before it's ripped apart for more drastic work. :metal:

Thank you, yeah I figured it took 45yrs for it to look like this, what's the rush? Its crazy how much of a beating these trucks can take and still be good to go.

Took the truck out for a drive the other night and also got another air breather off craigslist.

I also made a temporary radio template for the glove box. I have the original AM radio that I wired to accept an iPod but it just wasn't cutting it. I had another receiver laying around and decided to use it. I have access to a metal break at work so bending and cutting the sheet metal was a breeze. I bought a Bluetooth receiver off eBay that will pick up my phone signal so I can keep the glove box closed. I'm going to just paint it with some textured black paint.

Its been a while but no real updates other than I added some new caps and lowered the rear 2" with blocks. I'm happier with the stance but I still want to bag it. Oh and I also bought another project ..... the blue turd next to it.
