well 0 for 2 on the tailpipes. magnaflow doesn't make universal stainless tailpipes anymore. i had found a 3" that was listed in-stock, but wasn't. so now i'm back to the drawing board. might just go with an ap exhaust x6007 for now. it's a 3" mandrel bent aluminized tailpipe you can get for less than $50.

exhaust is on. i also picked up and installed the cap for the tailgate. previous owner put on new bed rail covers, but left the tailgate cap off.

exhaust is exactly what i wanted. just a touch noticeable in the cab, and nice and deep on the outside. not loud, but you definitely know i'm there.

Thanks! It is as stock as the come, minus the exhaust now. I keep struggling with what to do with it externally, because it is so unmolested!

curt category 3 hidden hitch and window tint are here ready to put on.

thinking audio will be next. i never was much into that until i put a "good" system in my K5, now it's hard to live without! i saved the amp and 8" boston sub out of the sierra, so it will be going in this pickup with a new headunit and some better speakers in the cabin.

next is pinstrip, raptor line the bed, do something with the rockers or get some sidesteps, and drive the snot out of it.

i would like to put some of the newer 2014ish 5 spoke 17" silverado wheels on it, but that can wait.

tint and hidden hitch are installed. tint wasn't as daunting as i expected, went pretty smooth and had both sides done in about an hour including removing the inner door panels. after driving to work today, i'm glad i went with 35% instead of 20%.

hitch install went fairly easy as well, i did have to drop the spare. i like that there aren't any stickers or unnecessary tubes peeking out.

sound system was ordered yesterday, free 1 day shipping on amazon prime(gotta love it!):

kenwood cd deck kdcbt265u
kenwood 6.5s for the front doors kfc-1665s
all the install necessaries including harnesses, dash pieces, and amp install kit.

i kept the 400w amp and 8" boston sub out of the sierra. i will eventually build a new box to fit a little better under the rear seat on the driver's side.

i've actually enjoyed using the tape player in the pickup and the cd player works OK, but it's time to get some better sound out of it!

time for an update i guess. a few weeks ago i installed a denali/escalade cluster. yesterday i changed out the rag joint with a new Lares #205 and did a full tune up. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and a new coil. it still had the factory coil in it @ 207k miles. i used all ac delco except for the wires, i used denso at 1/2 the price. definitely runs smoother, i went back with copper plugs instead of the double platinums i took out.

need to get the raptor liner ordered and some red LEDs for my cluster. considering nfabs for the side steps. then smoothy bumpers and i'm going to call it a day until it needs new tires.

Good looking truck. I definitely like the newer interior in these trucks. They look so much better with it in my opinion.

I ordered Iridium plugs for my 2000 K2500. Isn't that what they came out with factory? So many different plug choices anymore.

The Vortec motors had a platinum plug in them originally, they were supposed to go 100k miles with them. I do not use any of the gimmick plugs with multiple electrodes or double platinum nonsense. Best results I've ever had were with AC Delco platinum plugs, plus they should be pre-gapped to .060". Some places like Rockauto do list a copper plug as an option and a quality copper plug will run well for a while, just not nearly as long as the platinum will.

you're right, the copper won't last the duration of the platinum, but copper is the better conductor of the two. i don't mind changing plugs every 20-30k, or less if needed. all the plugs i pulled out of the box were gapped at .060 except one that needed adjusted, and it was slightly closed.

i still can't get over the fact that coil was still going at 207k.

well none of my "to do's" have come to fruition. no smoothy bumpers, raptor liner, or led's yet....but i did rebuilt the whole front end. new pitman, idler, idler bracket, tie rods, and ball joints. followed with an alignment. drives and rides exceptional.

also made one other nice addition to the front end, pictures to follow soon. i don't want to give it away, but it rhymes with: towel good

 Sounds like some good work done, more along the functional lines and less on cosmetic, nothing wrong with that.

pickup is dirty like most of my pictures...i promise it get's washed once or twice a week! tough to keep clean when you live down a gravel road.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...pslhwyk3lb.jpg

need to do a little more adjusting on the driver's side, but it is pretty close.

That is the nice thing about white, you don't always see how dirty it is till you clean it.

Truck looking good.

Re: 1998 Silverado 1500 Z71 ECSB Daily

Definitely why I prefer a white pickup! Doesn't show the dust from my gravel roads near as bad either.

Here are some pictures after my monthly "clean-up". Also clay bared the hood, made a huge difference.
