The Optima is the dead battery, correct?

If so, Tech Tip #3 has some solutions.

I also like the dual terminals of the 34/78, because it allows me to hook my battery to one set of posts, and I can directly wire my winch to the other set of terminals.

Just make sure you use the top terminals for the winch. Long pulls will melt the side terminals right out of an Optima.

I think my optima sat at least a few months before I bought the truck, so I'm surprised how well it's doing.

And yes, 90% of my charging is a smart charger but I keep an old transformer type around to get very dead batteries going... Doesn't always bring them back but it's worth a shot. Not sure how I'd find one if I didn't have one though.

If you don't drive it often, use a battery maintainer. I like the Schumacher units that are about $20 at Walmart or on Amazon. I use them on my ATV's, tractors, trolling motor battery, and the Jeeps that aren't often driven.
