Probably my favorite is when looking for 67-72 c10's, it doesn't say in the listing if it is a swb or lwb and every picture is taken at the "perfect" angle so you can't tell.

C10/20 4x4! Really! Either it's a "c" or its a " k".

My favorite is 'all original' then the ad proceeds to describe new paint, new 350, aftermarket wheels, engine chrome kit. Dude, if it's got all that it's not original!

The "usual or "typical" rust. Usual for the desert? or the rust belt? How about being more specific?

"Restorable"

Well, jeez, anything is restorable if you throw enough time and money at it.

"Full documentation".
I found a prospect 200 miles away and, after seeing pictures and talking to the owner- who claimed to have "all the original documentation", went to see it only to discover he had absolutely NONE of the trucks paperwork (or even old pictures). The only receipts he had were the engine rebuild and some body rubbers.
What a waste of time! :banghead:

Patina! That term just bugs me. Patina is what crafty women do to furniture that isn't old in order to con someone into paying too much for it. Our trucks worked hard and as a result they have scars! Not some distressed finish. Okay that's my thirty second rant. Please return to your regularly scheduled programming.

If the statement were accurate, it would.

Consider for just a moment that the owner likely doesn't actually know what the problem is and why the AC doesn't work, or why it leaked. All non-working AC can be fixed by a "recharge" in most people's minds. That's my point.

If someone is selling a truck that is leak-free, working, and ready to charge, then it would be accurate. I am of the opinion that this is an uncommon case.

Except for the fact the the most likely thing to fail on these A/C systems is the compressor seal. So if it does work but leaks, chances are, the pump need replaced.

Is it really a "K" or is it a converted "C"?

I'm willing to admit that I don't know everything and also when I'm wrong but, I am under the impression that a K is 4x4 and a C is not.

The only fender badges that had a K were K5's (blazers). Pickups got C10/C20 badges regardless of whether they were 4X4 or not.

These are three of my favorites and are usually accompanied by "make an offer" and no price. I just skip right on by these no matter how nice they may appear.

Vehicle is cheap, ad says "not running, just needs a $2.99 part to fix it, but don't have time, my loss is your gain".
Really, it needs a cheap part that takes 15 minutes to install, but you don't have time so you're selling it for $500 instead of $2000??

I always do and they always get mad.... well, except once, and I had to do much fast talking to avoid buying the car (which, to this day, I actually wish I had bought it -1956 Chevy belair wagon for *sob* $700)

My response to the "just needs" is "why don't you just" - after all, as it seems to be the first words out of many's mouth... just like the offer bit, they usually don't like my suggestion of what they should just do - they say I'm blunt and rude :fry:

Re: Things that annoy: "AC Works, but"

I've been doing a/c repair for many years.
And,I agree, the phrase-"Just needs some freon" is the most common complaint I hear!
If it needs freon,it has a leak!
Leaks cost time and money to repair.
One can won't fix it!Ever! It will still leak.
And,usually,it's a waste of time and freon.
But,it can get very expensive to rebuild a system,so most just sell the car and buy one with working a/c.
Or, do without.

All original, one owner.
Went to look at said truck after the seller told us that his father bought it new and it was fully restored.

Re: Things that annoy: "AC Works, but"

Well let me take it in a bit of a different direction. What I like to see in the description(and the main thing I look for). "Only driven to church on Sunday". When I see this in the ad, I know it's a true low mileage vehicle being sold by an honest person.... Instant buy! The problem is people stopped using this in ads, I must be getting old! :mm:

How about when you inquire about a non runner, bit of rust, sitting in some field...
"Oh that one I ain't selling- I seen what they go for on the auctions.
That Angry Argument Garage Monkey show on the History channel just did one like that, went for 80 grand!"
