Back in 2006--2009 before the house bubble burst.I saw car and chevy trucks enter the scrap yard and bye by for 600-800.00 when metal was going for 500.00 a ton.I called every one to come sit out front colton Scrap yard.Saw a 21 VW buss that ran sell for 498.00 saw a 1969 SS Nova with the 396 and 4 speed trans in the trunk hanging out. There was a lot of free money with all the refinance going on from 2006-2009

bingo!

seriously doubt it's worth $1200 scrapped, so offer a bill or two over actual scrap value and everyone wins..

once you get it home, evaluate its worthiness for restoration to driver level or better and go from there..

if it boils down to a parts truck, take inventory and help others complete their projects..

members here are gushing with advice and help, doubt you'll do any worse than break even with fees, most likely better..

and end of the day, save a truck/parts that they're not making any more of ;)

good luck with your decision!

Also man , they were doing the cash for clunkers in 2008-9 . Can only imagine how many classics got trashed .
