Dont know about everyone else but your link takes me to narrowed rear axle thread not your build. I did find your build by clicking link in SIG but wanted to let you know.

Also just my .02 but I love the 4.8's. Uncle had 2 1500 silverado 2wds #1 had 4.8 and #2 had 5.3 and it really seemed the 4.8 truck ran better over all just less power when towing. I think its kinda the old 327 vs 350 story lol

Idk how that link got there but fixed now, thanks for letting me know!

Also my BIL had a 4.8 in a 2004 Silverado with 385,000 miles before he traded it off because the front axle (4x4) needed a bunch of work. I chose it cuz it was cheap! Only had 7k miles when I got it.

I understand being swayed by the cheap part, I have 2 of the 4.8's sitting here now I picked up cheap for projects.

When I got my ls, no one wanted the 4.8’s I too grabbed two others, they have less than 10k on them. The lot was under $1500 with all accessories, harness and PCM.

Now they are almost as much as a 5.3!

The prices for a 5.3 or a 4.8 in Iowa have jumped in the last 3 years. I think a 4.8 only makes around 20 hp. less than a 5.3. Atleast that's what I was told.

That’s what I have seen around me as well. The 2005 4.8 that I have was rated higher than the 99-2002 4.8’s and this is another reason why I chose to get the 2005 4.8.
