Looks great! What are you using to strip the paint?

Couple of other small updates. Yesterday, he got the cowl stripped. I guess there were two small rust spots in the bottom of the cowl and he will have those repaired today. Also, after getting the drip rail stripped they brushed in some DP primer in preparation for seam sealing.

I got a chance to stop by this afternoon and they have started on the body work. We should have it in primer by Friday.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
I wish I had all summer to work on my truck! But then my money wouldn't keep up...
What a great project for you and your son for the summer. |
Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
I can not wait to get to this point! Looks awesome. I have two boys that walk by the truck and see what I'm up to, but don't want to actually work on it. Hopefully, they will at some point.

All I have to say, is that wasn't the same deal I got as a kid :mm:. All kidding aside, he is working his butt off and I am really proud of him. |

You should be proud - he's learning valuable skills from his dad and his grandpa and he'll have a sweet truck to show for it. High school can be rough on a vehicle, but with the pride he has in it, it'll be well taken care of. Hopefully it's a passion that he will carry with him and teach his kids. |

They got the cab blocked and into a second coat of primer on Tuesday.
Yesterday, I was able to take the day off of work and lend a hand at prepping the inside of the cab for paint. We also found a little rust spot in the passenger side kick panel and were able to get it repaired. I also took the boy to the paint shop and we got the paint. Went with PPG's DBC. They were super accommodating and showed us the process of adding colors and how everything works. It was fun. Today, if all goes as planned, they will have the inside of the cab in paint. Super excited! |

My son just sent me these two pics. This is prior to clear and it looks a lot darker than I expected. My son's exact words were, "I love it. Like a lot. Like so much."

Again, not the best picture but it is in clear. I ran down there and poked my head in the booth to peek and I really like it.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
That's a great blue. It didn't look that dark in the can, but it looks good on the truck.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
Looks really good! Is that the same color as Chevrolet medium blue?

On Friday, I was able to pull the truck out of the booth and see the color in the sunlight. It's a lot lighter now. We are happy with it.

Not the best picture but today they got the jambs, and cowl sprayed. He also decided to cut the line on the underside of the drip rail and include the windshield area.

I was able to poke my head in last night and I was incorrect in my previous post. He decided to cut the line at the drip rail not under it. Next step is to jamb the doors, hang them and then spray the cab/doors together. So far, paint is coming out really slick.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
I'm interested to see the Cavalry Blue on this truck. I'm actually planning on doing the Toyota Voodoo Blue on mine.
