That's what gets me. I would hate to have to take this out for this gasket after installing. I can't find anything on the internet about the pan sitting like this either.

I don't see what year your engine is. I was kinda assuming 67 but it has a spin on filter. I think the thick seal came around 74 or so.

It's a 67 327 engine with a cartridge filter. It is a impala engine.

There ya go, your 327 has the thin timing cover seal. I didn't think the one piece gaskets came in the thin seal style. They should though so I hope I'm wrong. If they don't make the one piece gasket that you need then you will have to use the multi piece gasket set or buy a nice oil pan.

They make the thin one. I'm just curious how mine measures for the thick one then. I may have to buy one and try it.

I just finished. I believe I have the correct newer style gasket. Is this normal how high it sits in the front till its bolted down? It seemed to torque down fine without binding.

What does it look like the opposite side of the oil dipstick tube?

The back sits down nice. I ordered the gasket with the smaller front seal. When it gets here we'll see if that fits better

I ordered the one piece gasket for the "new" oil pan for my ongoing build but I think after measuring I have the "old" style" and the gasket sure does not look like it will fit! I guess I need to order another one.

Lots of good info in this thread, thank you.

So shame on me for just believing what everyone said about the measurements of these gaskets tell you. I got the smaller one and it fits properly. My pan clearly measures 2 3/8" and it still takes the smaller gasket so now I have a wasted gasket that cost a few bucks. I am pissed at the false information. First picture shows the larger one and the gaps and the second the smaller with gaps comparable to the rear main area like it should be.

Well that fits much better.
