Re: Project "Pandemic" 1927 Chevy Capitol

I have now nailed down a power plant for my truck. Its a 2007 5.3l from a Tahoe. It is supposed to be a 320 horse 340 torque motor with only 102,000 miles. Comes with all the accessories and wires. Getting it tomorrow! I traded a 1940 Ford Cab and 1988 Ranger frame for it. He says he is getting a 4l80 to go with it but we will see.

Re: Project "Pandemic" 1927 Chevy Capitol

Update:

Recently received my 5.3l looks like everything is all there, still awaiting the 4l60e, but he hasn't picked up the '40 Ford yet so no worries yet.

Did some modifications to the top of my doors. The way we had welded them up did not take in consideration for the top of the frame meeting the roof line.

I also went to a swap meet last Sunday, Sold some extra stuff and found some good deals as well.

$20-used plastic gas tank
$20-2 different, never used frame mounted brake assemblies
$20-4 1927 Missouri License Plates - 2 are matching plates
$20- 2 Model A radius rods
$20- T-Bucket windshield frame that was the exact size i needed

Pictures coming soon!

All the pcs of my frame are cut from 2x3 tubing. I have the 30 Model A front frame horns and crossmember cleaned up and ready to weld on along with the rear cross member both pieces were taken from the frame that came with the the project. Hopefully I will get these pieces welded up soon and can move forward with making a rolling chassis.

So I have been depending on a friend to do my welding. After a few no shows I decided it was time to bite the bullet and do my own welding. So here are the pics of my first time welding. I have both frame rails from the front of the cab to the back of the bed completed. I have welded the new frame rails to the Model A front crossmember and frame horns. I set the width on the frame rails with a makeshift frame table and lots and lots of measuring and tacked them in place for the rest of the crossmembers to be cut and welded in. It is all built out of 2x3 tubing cut with a chop saw and welded with a 110v gasless wire feed welder. I still have a lot of grinding to do but have impressed my self with how it is coming out. Hopefully it will be a rolling frame soon.

So i am using a 1930 model a front axle, spindle, spring, and drag links. Speedway does not sell a disk brake kit for this spindle. So i ordered a 37-48 ford kit and was able to modify it to work by using a 1/2" spacer behind the bearing adapter, moving the caliper to in front of the axle, and opening up 2 out of the 3 mounting holes for the caliper bracket.

Progress !

Excellent .

Please keep on with the pictures and explanations of how & why you're doing it .

Pictures of how I had to modify the disk brake bracket to fit the 1930 Model A spindle, the spacer that needed bored out to a larger size and the final product.

The calipers had to go to in front of the axel due to the steering arm.
