Re: Sat for 20 years in a field - Original '70 Blazer
I’ve recently acquired a bunch of parts and will soon be putting this together. I’m converting it back to auto from the swapped in 4spd, putting a 72 pullout engine from a suburban along with upgrading to power steering and power brakes.
Someone swapped in a disc brake Dana 44 so I’m ahead on that one. I’m just going to put it back together so it looks like it was never apart. I’ll post some pictures of my parts score at a later date. |

What an great FIND. OMG how can people leave these historical and valuable vehicles sitting in fields and barns just to waste away—GEEZ!

Here are some parts I have collected recently to get this truck back on the road

Re: Sat for 20 years in a field - Original '70 Blazer
The truck was originally an auto truck and I am going to put it back to auto along with upgrade to power brakes and steering.
Interestingly it came with the utility bucket seats. It has a set of standard buckets currently and I couldn't figure out why the brackets didn't reach the holes in the floor. So anyone have a lead on utility buckets or are those impossible to track down? If I could track down a set I have a pair of buckets with tracks that I could sell to offset the cost. |

Looks like you snagged a rare '72 optional coolant recovery tank with the shroud.

There are some seats from a 72 blazer on FB marketplace located in Ohio.

Hope this helps. I will keep my eyes open. I am working on a 1970 also. Not as clean as yours but 2 owner. Numbers matching restoration. Best of luck

I too am working on a 2 owner 1970 frame off restoration. All original frame and driveline. Much of the body has already been replaced. Would have loved to start with such a solid unit such as the original posters. |

Snagged this rear seat this weekend. My truck is missing the seat so I am going make this work. It's almost too nice haha.

Re: Sat for 20 years in a field - Original '70 Blazer
I have a set of utility buckets in Arizona. Unfortunately only have tracks for the driver side as someone put these in a square body in the '70s

Re: Sat for 20 years in a field - Original '70 Blazer
I would still be interested. I might be able to make the passenger side track work from the buckets I have.
I’ll send you a PM, thanks. |

Getting there. Hope to have the fuel system completed this week. Then brakes, a few odds and ends and ready to fire it up.
I am deliberately completing the truck prior to seeing if all of the various used and untested parts actually work. At least it will be in one piece if something needs attention. |
