Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
Kirk and I had a great time this year
I really only go to these auctions for the 'Car Show' effect I went to Mecum Kissimmee a couple weeks ago also My observations Kissimmee has more stock vehicles BJ has more resto-mods 67-72 K20's are now overtaking Blazer values Alcohol :tim: and ego are surely factors in these stupid prices I love stock trucks and supers Really, there was only one in the whole place I would have liked to own It goes off Sunday morning I'm guessing it won't make 6 digits |

Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
WOW, I saw two 69 cheyenne's and a 72 CST. Must be some ultra rare trucks:lol: For that kind of money you would think they would badge them correctly:smoke: chances are the buyer doesn't know the difference. nice trucks- but just a little out of my budget.

A 69ish bronco bid too close to 400k with fees. I'm missing the why by at least 200k

Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
Thanks for the update and pics. As I sat in a chair all day yesterday with the flu, or whatever it is, I watched some of the auction footage. Most everything that came across the block was a restomod, as Eric said. Since I mainly enjoy stock cars/trucks, these aren't for me anyway. Regardless of all that, I'm sure it was a good time just being there and seeing it all unfold.

Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
I think it’s great that the sellers received big bucks for their trucks. God bless them.
But remember if you drive your truck around a lot and enjoy it like I do then the value of your truck and what it means to you has a different meaning. Big bucks and sitting in a collection like a piece of jewelry is great if that’s what you want then go for it. Competitive run of the road pricing on a daily driven c10 or K10 that is stashed in a garage, carport or front yard is great also if that’s what you want then go for that as well. |
Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
That 77 F250 (post #12) must've had $220k in the glovebox.

Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
Well guys, if you ever wondered about distribution of wealth, while commoners are shocked and set back by prices at the grocery. To some a 400k truck costs the same as a loaf a bread to others. Whats a restore mod anyway. Kidding, sorta. Seems a chromed grille is one part example. The original grilles >>>> imo, cost more too. Many of those 300k mods looked chrome to me. On a side not all sellers could have been happy. I know nothing about hd cycles, but a beauty with a buggy sold for 16kish. Seems its worth twice that easy.

Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
a nice place to walk around but make sure to leave the checkbook/debit card at home
though, frankly, even if I had wanted to bid I would have been blown out of the water well before $50K, so they might not have even let me in |
Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
double posted, sorry

Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
never consider BJ as any remote sourse about what these truck are worth. I have been told by a very seasoned automotive specialist that BJ and consigners often work together to inflate the price of the cars. THIS IS A SHOW! At times, consignors are also the high/winning bidders again to inflate the perceived value.
We (should) all know auctions can legally drive up the price without any active bidders. In case you forget anything, go back and read the bold above. |
Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
Laundered covid money is the only explanation I can think of.

I do agree that BJ Auction is a show. The price of admission is ridiculous and it seems crazy that a buyer has to pay a fee to bid and win the right to pay a 10% winning buyers fee. |
Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
That Blazer Lot #1352 that brought $440,000 I'm pretty sure you could build one of that exact caliber for maybe a 100k but not 400k. I want to see the receipts and pics of the build, maybe I'll take back my statement if the cost to build was north of 350k. Some people have more money than sense I wouldn't pay that much for one of our vehicles.

I always say that these old guys are buying these vehicles for the Little Hottie sitting next to them, because they match the color of her shoes and purse. |
Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
With these prices, I wonder if I should have my 70 survivor appraised again, up my insurance policy. I can only wonder the new cost of the policy. I may have to sell my house to afford it. Not sure the wife will like sleeping in the uncovered bed(grin).
Havin fun...Don. |
Re: Prices of our trucks at BJ Scottsdale
I agree with Sheepdip, these prices are so inflated. Yeah, those look like nice trucks, but I think it is stupid money being tossed around. I think the $50k - $60k range is about right for a well done restoration. I can't see the justification to charge $130k and above for a restoration, unless the parts were all plated in gold.
