LoL. I totally understand. I'm done buying anymore extra vehicles until this endeavor is complete. I have 4 67-72 trucks, a 74 Bronco, '56 F@rd p/u, a 77 Trans Am, 48 Cub Cadet float plane and my 93 Mustang and GOB TONS of parts for all of them. Plus our daily drivers. My vehicle quota is FULL.

i always wait a few years after the hill has collapsed and a big rain causes water problems :D

153 pieces of rebar and mako mix pumped into every cell. Building should be going up in a few weeks.

^^^Thanks! I'm excited to finally be moving forward. It's been a 3 year journey that has been riddled with bumps and bruises, but looks like I'm finally going to at least have some dry storage. Power is next, then drainage and backfill of the block wall... THEN move-in. :metal:

It's 36'x46'x14'. It's as big as I could fit in that spot. I'm already sure it needs to be bigger.

I'll be pressure washing the floor today & then putting the sealer down tonight (if all goes well).

I’ve been plugging along...

200 amp service... done
Floors pressure washed & sealed... done
12’x14’ loft for wifie poo’s stuff... done
Pallet racking... done
Rotary 9000 lb xL lift... lift is bought & in the shop, but not up yet. Hopefully that’ll happen this weekend.

Well... the lift still isn’t up! Marked the 1st 2 holes on the left tower and drilled the 3/4” hole...only to find out that the 6” pad that I paid for was only 3-3/4” thick!!! So I ended up cutting out a 15’-6” x 5’ hole into the existing floor and dug it down to 14” deep (including digging out an additional + 4” under the existing slab) added 4” of gravel base, plus 100’ of 1/2” rebar. I got the new repair poured this last Friday (4K concrete + added fiberglass reinforcement). 25 days from today...Lift should go up. I’ve been concentrating on working on the electrical and organizing.

The dogleg in the picture is where I ‘absorbed’ an existing crack in the current slab. I’m just trying to make lemons!

Sucks you had to cut the floor. One thing for sure the piece you put in there will not come up short when you drill the holes.

It did suck! Concrete saw (aka 10” skill saw with a diamond blade) a jackhammer, then 2.7 million wheelbarrow loads of concrete, gravel & finally clay and more rock. Then I got it all ready for new concrete (almost 9 yards).

Now that I have to wait another 24 days for the concrete to cure, I’m working hard & heavy on the electrical, lighting & cleaning/organizing. Hopefully, I’ll be all done with that part when it comes time to install the lift. Maybe I’ll get my compressor and related parts installed too.

Well, I’ve gotten a lot of the electrical done. I got two 100 amp subpanels wired in (1 up on the loft & 1 in the rear), lights & fans under the loft (the gym) & the overhead lighting.

Sorry the pic is sideways.

Great progress. Nice lighting too. Are those T5?

nlped 03-11-2018 09:12 PM

Re: Finally...a new shop at the house

Thanks Doug! No, They’re T8 actually. I got them for free from work...they were putting in new LED fixtures. They had 277 ballasts, but I did away with the ballasts and converted to 18W 6000k LED’s. Really lit the place up.

Absolutely! I got all 4 for $400. They are steadily getting filled up & seem pretty durable so far. I got some really cool cabinets from my wife’s deceased grandfather yesterday that are super cool & extremely rugged too. I’ll throw a pic of them up soon too.

I wish my shop was the size of yours, but I’m proud to have one finally.
