Mine's pretty low cost. I don't know what you're going for but all told in parts I'm sitting at $1162.25 not including tools, and including purchase price. She's not in paint or anything, but I've got her from a non-running fender missing heap to a driver that runs nicely and gets me back and forth to lowes.

The kids are wanting to stay with a patina build but the more I get into it the more I'm wanting to paint her. Who knows?

My 65 linked in my signature isn't really a budget build, but more of a budget tinker. :)

Mine is pretty low budget. A $1500 stepside, a Porterbuilt kit (Not Dropmember), lots of help from friends met because of this board, some rattle can paint, and a bunch of used parts.
LINK IN SIG.........By the way, good idea!

Here's ours... 47 Chevy with right at $5000 invested for full frame up build with
350/350, IFS, and AC. Just went 1300 miles on Power Tour a couple weeks ago.

Something else I'm learning is that to some a thousand dollars is giant and to some it's just a drop in the ocean.

I have nothing more in it right now except the purchase price. Plus if you look at the pics there ar a/c units everywhere... That's what I do and my boss jus lets me use a spot in the shop! In the last pic you'll see I used an a/c duct lift to lift the rear up lol ( u can use anything as a tool)

It's what ever it takes. I've found some nifty ways to make do with less. Who knows maybe we need a thread just for that....

I call my '67 GMC SWB "Project Po' Boy" cuz I'm using what I have and I don't want it to look like "money" when it's done.Justa cool little truck to drive. But,I'm not doing a build thread because it's not a constant effort due to budget (see project name),so not much to follow.

I've got about $4000 in mine and that includes the $1000 purchase price of the truck

That's awesome fellas. Thanks for joining in on the fun. Thanks to all who have spent time adding to the list. If you haven't had time to look at some of these cool rides do so. I think you'll be surprised what you can do for so little. I get inspired each time. It's like Christmas.....

Mine is quite a low buck build. I started on this when I was 17, I'm 20 now and a full-time student, so no real big income to sling around buying nice things. plus theres more pride in building rather than buying.

Mines pretty lobuck. I've found some smoking deals on a few things. But a lot of things that I've wanted to do that were too expensive, I've researched them to death until I found a way to do it cheaper. And don't let anybody tell you that you shouldn't do things a certain way. I got so much flack for going with a 6.5td. But it will do exactly what I want and it was a 10th of the cost of a Duramax or a Cummins.

Was gonna add mine to the list but I see you've already figured out I'm a cheapskate

I still want good quality parts, so making cheap and awesome happen definitely takes time. Usually I'm selling one thing to pay for another, and definitely lots of patience waiting for a a good deal to come up.

Re: Low Buck Build Threads Help or LBBTH

Killer man. I enjoyed reading your build. I spend what time I can surfing for new builds or at least to me that is that I feel fit into this sort of low buck theme. I know some will cry foul and some will have cheers but there's a lot of really talented folks out in the garage plucking away. Guys with nothing more than a drill and a welder. Keep it up.

Re: Low Buck Build Threads Help or LBBTH

Thanks, glad you are enjoying the build. I'm ready to get my brakes finished up and get back on the road!

I've picked up a lot of good money saving ideas from this board. Lots of folks doing big things on a small budget which is way cool.

That's what makes low budget, low buck builds so kool. It isn't how much money you can spend or what you can buy off the shelf. How you can make do with little. Thanks again for your build.

Re: Low Buck Build Threads Help or LBBTH

Project no-buck in my signature.

At then end, I spent more money, but it wasn't required. Heck, I ended up with a fuel injected engine / air conditioning, and 1/2 ton disk brake suspension and made money by parting out the rest of the donor trucks.

It took awhile to find these and many more kool rides like this. I wish and would like to find more. Recently in Hot Rod magazine that the best selling issues were the Reader Rides issues. That tells you something.

Mine is a low buck build I've had it for around 5 years. If u take to carb and nitrous off the motor has around 900$ in and has a nice valve train with only 2k miles on the short block.

Cool thread!
The prices here in sweden are ofcourse higher, but I like budget builds better, since lack of money seems to spark ingenuity...
Mine will be on that note definitly when I start with it this fall

Re: Low Buck Build Threads Help or LBBTH

Yea I agree buget builds are more fun for me because u don't have alot on the line. Like my truck motor I have gotten my moneys worth many times over I have around 1100$ in the long block and it has about 50 nitrous passes on it and alot of motor passes and still runs great. On the other hand my camaro engine has alot of money in it and it would be alot to loose if it came apart.
